This 1986 Monte Carlo SS is a "factory original" unmolested, and unrestored survivor class collector car. The ownership history is as follows: Ordered and sold in St. Charles, MO in September 1986. Second owner, September1988-2014, St. Charles, MO. Current owner, October 2014, to present, titled in Arkansas. This is a true (4) Code ( B4V, F41, G80, Z65) Monte Carlo SS. The current mileage 76,939 is true and correct, having been driven a total of 297 miles since the retitle (76,642) in October of 2014, and supported by documentation both by the bill of sale, and a CARFAX report in October 2014. That report also confirms no accidents, no major service, and no safety or mechanical recalls for this VIN#. Included with the sale of this Monte Carlo SS, is the following documentation. The original owner's manual, build sheet, laminated copy of the original window sticker, and copy of the dealer invoice, of which both were obtained from GM Heritage Records. The factory RPO Code label is intact under the rear deck lid. These are the power options on this car and are all in working order: Brakes, steering, windows, door locks, tilt steering wheel w/electronic cruise control, AM/FM Stereo w/cassette and equalizer, remote electric trunk release, electric rear window defogger, dual remote sport mirrors. The engine and transmission are numbers matching and original to the VIN#. The engine and transmission are in excellent mechanical condition, and the car runs and drives very well and needs no major work. The A/C has been converted from the original R-12 Freon to the R-134A Freon, as the R-12 systems are no longer legal. Currently the A/C system will not cool the car, but the compressor will engage. The reason the system will not cool is currently unknown, but due to age of the car, possibly low Freon charge, or some other mechanical fault, the system remains intact butjust willnot cool. This is the only mechanical issue with the operation and drivability of the car. Only the following (4) items are not original to this SS: Air filter element (K&N), battery, (4) tires (original tires were Goodyear Eagle GT's) the current tires are BF Goodrich Radial T/A's and are at about 85% remaining tread depth. The floor mats are a (4) piece new set and embossed with the Monte Carlo SS badging The original jack and factory spare tire are in place, and the spare is in unused condition having never been mounted on the car, and the tire is complete with therubber stamping tabs remaining on the tire. The interior of this SS is in pristine and immaculate condition, with very little wear to the driver's side front bucket seat. This SS has never been smoked in, as the ash tray is in new and completely unused condition, along with the cigarette lighter being new and unused, and in working order. Since September 1988 this SS has been driven in only dry weather conditions, and has been garaged and/or covered when not driven. The entire car is completely rust and corrosion free, and the undercarriage is in excellent condition. Many mid to late 80's GM paint finishes received poor primer application prior to final paint, and this SS was one of those cars. The horizontal surfaces ( hood, roof and rear deck lid) are exhibiting "spider web cracking" of the paint coat. This condition is very common, along with in some cases delamination of the paint from the primer. Fortunately, that condition does not exist on this car. This SS is a prime candidate for paint refinish if the owner decided to do so, or in order to maintain the original patina of the car from the factory, the finish could be left as is until an absolute reason for a repaint was made apparent. The sheet metal is in excellent condition, and the cost saving in this area alone would make this an attractive option to any owner. With a yearly average driving mileage of 2,564 miles, this Monte Carlo SS is rare in the fact that it has been kept very well preserved, and in it's original factory condition, making it a coveted example of a well preserved "survivor class" collector car. Many 4th Gen Monte Carlo SS's have seen the crusher due to being driven hard, wrecked, and or abused, and many other SS's have had their value and patina reduced from abusive driving, and the need for powertrain and driveline replacements which drastically lowers their value in the collector car marketplace. By the very nature of the known history and ownership, the documentation and overall condition of this Monte Carlo SS that we warmly know as "Dale".... is needing a new home....WILL YOUR GARAGE AND DRIVEWAY BE THE LUCKY NEW HOME FOR "DALE" ?
ADDED NOTES: We will definitely consider any and all buyers who submit a minimum offer of $10,000.00 This price is based from appraisals that were obtained thru Mecum Collector Cars, Barrett-Jackson, and Haggerty. This price reflects the minimum money that has been seen for 4th Gen Monte Carlo SS's in the past 2 years. The high has been $15,000.00 for comparative examples with mileages in the range of this example that is listed for sale. The lone exception has been examples that have been untitled from new, or driven little to none, and these examples have brought $20,000 - $25,000 in resale money. There is a local lienholder (Arvest Bank) and a portion of the sale proceeds will be utilized to satisfy the lien, and release the title to a new owner. The seller can state that once the lien is satisfied, that upon release from the lienholder of the title, the title will be transferred immediately to the new owner. Also the seller, can, depending on the final sale price, and the location of the purchaser ( U. S.) offer enclosed trailer delivery service of the car to the purchaser at little or no cost. Beyond that, the purchaser would be responsible for transport and/or delivery of the car to the new destination of purchase.
