The devil is in the detail! This 2nd Generation1971 Camaro Z28 was purchased as a documented Concourse all original sheet metal, trim, bumpers and numbers matching powertrain. It was given a frame off restoration starting in December 2014and completing October 2015. Builtto be ajaw dropping clean linesshow car with comfort, handling and performance in mind. It was mine and the builders goal to not over build,or end up with agaudy, rough riding, LT1 powered,trailer queen.The small craftsman's details can be missed by the averageeyesuch as filled in side marker lights and door lock, production crease lines filled in both front and back, hood mating sections filled in, fire wall smoothed, ARP stainless 12 point hardware throughout,and fuse box and wiring hidden from view while body gaps are excellent.New school eye candy detailwith old school comfort. No kidney beltjarring ride, no roll cage or cutting up this pristine unibody and frame. This is a canyon carving, Sunday driving, take the trophy home show car! The odometer states 3,841 miles however the true mileage on this buildis 1,845. I had to drive it to the Good Guys Show in Del Mar and my local shows.....right?
Body - This documented2nd Generation original sheet metal car had no rust or body panels replaced or reworked. The sheet metal and body work was meticulously performed while countlesshours were spent sanding and priming the body to perfection. House of Kolor Sunset Pearl Orange was sprayed as was the six coats of clear to give it the deep brilliant shine. Then the hall mark racing strips were placed using matt finish in the Sunset Pearl Orange color. Under hood, inner fenders and firewall are sprayed withflat Sunset Pearl Orange and secured using ARP stainless bolts and 12 point nuts.All original trim work was either polished or chromed while all billet aluminum was sent to be black anodized. The front and rear bumpers were handled by Ogden Chrome in Utah. The exterior underside has been coated in black under sealer to help with road noise
Interior - The interior was performed by Lucas Reyes who develops prototype interior for Tesla Motors. While attempting to keep the stitching and flow similar to the original 1971 lines but with a modern flair. Bentley saddle hide leather was wrapped around the dash, door panels, trunk, rear seating,center console and steering wheel. Vintage air main unit cools the interior while Billet Specialties compressor and serpentine belt system handle the refrigerant, charging duties and power steering pump. The dash is modified and covered inleather while the Autometer American Muscle gauges keep an eye on the heartbeat. The trunk is wrapped in the same leather and Mercedes Benz tan carpet while hiding the Odyssey battery and Alpine stereo system. The interior isaccented with Fesler door handles, door pulls while the Budnick leather wrapped billet wheel handles the steering. The entire interior from firewall to trunk was fully wrapped in Dynamat sound deadner.
Engine -original numbers matching LT1 350 4 bolt mainexhumed to a 383cid using aScat stroker kit, lubed by a high volumeMelling pumphung above a wind age trayand a7qt oil pan. Up top is a set of Brodix aluminum IK 210 heads pushed by a Iskendarian hydraulic roller cam and kit,fed thruthe original LT1 Chevy aluminum polished and flowed manifold with a tuned Quick Fuel Black Diamond 750 cfm mechanicalcarburetor. All tuned by Westech Performance Groupputting out a healthy 400 hp and 435 ft lbs of torqueto the wheels on pump gas. The exhaust is expelled through coatedLemon headers hooked to 3" polished stainless tig welded exhaust with X pipe and Borla mufflers. Cooling is by US Radiator providing a4 row copper/brass radiator, dual electric fans and 180 thermostat. All hardware inside and out is ARP black and stainless. The engine is painted Sunset Orange as are the Billet Specialties aluminumvalve covers, breathers and air filter.
Drivetrain - Tremec TKO 5speed close ratio transmission, Centerforce clutch and billet fly wheel connected to a J&S Gear built 10 bolt Eaton positraction 3.73 C-Clip eliminated, powder coatedrear end, built to handle800 horsepower.
Chassis - Original frame blasted and painted with urethane frame bushings and ARP hardware. Front and rear suspension duties are handled by Hotchkis2 inch drop TVS suspension kit, subframe connectorand street tuned shocks along with a modern Delphi 600 Series 12:1 steering box pushing and pulling onall MOOG steering components. Stopping is handled by aWilwood master cylinder coupled to a Hydratech hydroboost with stainless tubing disappearing around the firewall. You will find Wilwood big six pistonbrakes and rotorsup fron, with four piston out back also connected to a hidden electric emergency/parking unit.
Wheels and Tires - At all four corners you will find Schott Mod 5 billet CNC "cover lock" (no lug nuts showing) wheels configured up front with8" x 18" covered with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/40ZR18 tires and out back10" x 18" wheels with 285/35ZR18 tires.
