This listing is for a 1951 Chevy Styleline Deluxe. If you are looking for an inexpensivecar that you can useforcruise nights or just a weekend cruiser, then consider this car.The car is a relatively low mileage survivor. It was heavily undercoated when purchased new and that saved it from rusting out. the car has very little rust. I could only find a couple of spots where it rusted through (see pictures). There is a small hole in the floor near the seat on the driver side about the size of a quarterand a small area on the inside of the reardriver side door by the dog leg.It is mostly original. What you see in the pictures iswhat is left of the original factory finish. The car has never been repainted from new. We applied a clear coat to preserve the factory finish. No attempt was made to take out any of the little "battle scars" the car has acquired over the years. It has a great patina and people love it. There is no indication that the car has ever been in a serious accident. All exterior trim is intact and in good shape. The interior of the car is intact including the headlinerbut badly weathered and has some dry rot. The seats are covered with some seat covers and blankets.
The original 216 engine ran but had a bad knock and upon inspection was found to be unsalvageable. that motor was removed and replaced with a used235 cubic inch motor out of a 1956 Chevy. This motor has approximately 30,000 miles on a complete rebuild. It runs great and does not smoke or make any unusual noises. We replaced all the seals and gaskets. We installed a new water pump and a new fuel pump. We converted the car to 12 volt with an internally regulated alternator. We had a custom bracket installed for the alternator. The radiator was removed and refurbished at a local radiator shop. we replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bushing. the flywheel was resurfaced. The transmission was found to be in great shape and required only minor servicing. The gas tank was removed, steam cleaned, sealed and had a new sending unit installed for the gas gauge.
The master cylinder was replaced along with all 4 wheel cylinders. New brake shoes were installed on all four corners. the wheels were media blasted and painted. New tires were installed all the way around (215 65 15).
This is a fun little car to drive. It has been a big hit at all the local cruise nights and car shows. A lot of work has been done to make this an excellent running and driving car. It is currently licensed and insured and is driven regularly. It really is a nice littlecar.
