1990 was a VERY good year for the 3/4 ton 4X4 Suburban! I am the second owner of this beast. It has been a California vehicle it's whole life. No rust. The frame is great. No accidents.
It has just had a $1500 rebuild of the Turbo 400 automatic transmission
New starter; New Magnaflow exhaust system; This truck runs good. I have documentation of the mileage up through about a year before I bought it. The odometer sticks now so I do not know the exact mileage, less than 200,000 I estimate. Sounds good, runs good. No smoke. No leaks.
I bought this as a project to "rust-o-mod" about two years ago. I love the style and it is an absolute TANK. However, two kids in college have delayed my dream project. With this transmission rebuild I have approximately $6000 invested, make my loss your gain
It is cosmetically rough. But I would drive it anywhere. I doubt it would pass the "city" version of CA smog. It passed the "rural" version with flying colors. You know where you live so I'll leave it at that.Any other state you should be fine. Air conditioner condenser is missing. Power windows and door locks could both be rebuilt. They work, but not great. The power rear window on the tail gate works good. Tires still have life left in them.
They changed the Suburban's in 1992 (not forbetter)if you are looking at this one, you probably already know this. The 1990-91's are sought after and if my situation was different, I would restore and drive this the rest of my life.
