2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Description

What You're Looking At
I am selling my 2002 Chevy Silverado Stepside. The truck is a true head-turner and receives many compliments! The truck spent most of its life in Pennsylvania, and then I bought it a couple years ago. I never drove the truck during the winter, so the body and frame are in beautiful shape due to ZERO exposure to salted roads. And for extra preventative measures, I immediately had the frame, rocker panels, and cab corners undercoated after purchasing the truck to prevent any future rust formation. The frame is rock solid and has virtually NO RUST! And the stepside box will never rot out because it is made out of a composite material instead of metal, so rust formation is literally impossible. While I owned the truck I washed it every week, and waxed it several times per year. This truck really is a sight to look at!
Mechanical
Mechanically, the truck is near perfect. Most single cab Silverado stepsides either came with the 4.8 liter Vortec engine, or the smaller V6 engine. But this truck has the bigger, more powerful 5.3 liter Vortec, which I have noticed is difficult to come by in the stepsides of this model. The engine has very low mileage for the year, and runs exceptional. When you step on the gas, it will really whip you back in your seat thanks to a larger engine in a lighter, stepside truck. I always ran ethanol free 91 octane, and received 14.5 mpg on average. The engine oil has always been changed every 3000 miles, and was treated with Lucas Oil Stabilizer every oil change. The engine is very healthy.
The transmission has been professionally rebuilt at 92k miles. The torque converter has been rebuilt, as well as an addition of a new trans. pump, pump gasket, o-ring, seal and bushing. A new filter was installed, as well as new cooler lines, a new pan gasket, and transfer case gasket. A lot of money has been sunk into this transmission rebuild, so the buyer of this truck will not have to worry about any near-future transmission issues. This newly rebuilt transmission shifts perfectly, and will last for many years to come.
Four-wheel drive works perfectly on the truck. It shifts in and out of it just fine, although I rarely used 4WD figuring it was never driven in the winter and the truck never saw any serious off-roading.
The heat blows really hot, and the AC blows ice cold. No matter the outside temperature, this truck will keep you comfortable.
Interior
The gray cloth interior on the truck is very clean. It was frequently vacuumed, and I also shampooed the interior at least once per year. All of the gauges and clusters on the dash work and light up properly. I bought the truck with rubber floor mats, and then I ended up getting a 2nd set of carpeted floor mats that I put on top of them.**I tried to provide the best interior images as possible, but it got tricky once the snow started falling as I did my best to keep the snowflakes from landing inside. The exterior and interior pictures were literally taken one day apart from each other; goes to show what wild New York weather we have here!**
Additional Money Spent
I added a few bolt-on performance parts. First, I added an AEM Brute Force intake (~$280). Then I added a full Borla exhaust system... Borla stainless headers (~$850) and a Borla cat-back stainless dual-exhaust (~$750). The original Borla muffler that came with the system wasn't quite as loud and aggressive sounding as I wanted, so I replaced it with a Flowmaster Super 40 muffler (~$80) to make it sound much more aggressive. The truck sounds absolutely amazing, and you'll find it very difficult to keep your foot off of the gas just so you can hear it's incredible sound! And of course, these bolt-on's have added significant horsepower making the truck very fun to drive.
Brand-new Cooper Discover AT3 tires were bought and installed in August. The tires and alignment cost about $700. These tires are popular and are a great all-season tire for those of you looking to drive the truck in the snow. These new tires barely have 1000 miles on them.
Why Am I Selling It?
I originally bought this truck with big plans to put a crazy lift kit on it, with monster tires, and do all kinds of crazy motor work to it. I basically wanted to make a sick show truck out of it, but I never got around to saving the money necessary to follow through with these big plans. I really wasn't expecting to attempt to sell this truck this soon, but I ended up buying a newer Rubicon two months ago that I fell in love with. For the last couple of months, I have debated on whether or not I should put this truck up for sale because it was a very difficult decision to make. As much as I have loved and babied this truck, it is time to pass it on to somebody else.
The single-cab stepside Silverado with the 5.3 Vortec engine is hard to come by, especially in the shape this truck is in. Not only is this truck a beautiful sight to see, but it is also fast and fun to drive. It is more than capable of towing and pay-loading, and you can do so with confidence in this truck. Whatever way you plan on using this truck, you will be very happy that you made this purchase.
