Up for auction is my 1978 Chevrolet, K5 Blazer - Trailering Special 4x4. It has the factory 350 four bolt main, TH-350 automatic transmission & NP-203 transfer case. The NP-203 is the fulltime four-wheel drive transfer case but I added the conversion kit to the transfer case and Warn locking hubs to make it part time 4wd. The interior is in pretty decent shape for its age and has been very well taken care of. This truck shows the mileage at 34,152. I was told by the previous owner that is the original mileage. See odometer photo but expect that will change a very little bit before the auction ends. I took the oil pan off and went thru the engine when I bought the truck in 2014 and there is reason to believe this is the actual mileage but no way for me to confirm that. Numbers ARE matching on the drive train. No leaks in the top whatsoever. It is my daily driver and I can tell you this truck is extremely reliable.
The truck has some body rust, as can be seen in the photos, but none on the frame. The body rust that exists IS surface rust. The fenders are solid but there are some spots on the bottoms of both doors and on the quarters (over the rear tires). The cab overall is solid as is the cab floor. The truck bed rust spots have been cut out and patched with galvanized sheet metal and is not the most professional job but prevented further rust from spreading (again, see photos). There is a crack in the middle of the factory windshield that spans about 6 to 8” left to right. Rear bumper is original and is a bit weathered but still solid as a new one.
In March of 2014, I replaced all gaskets and seals with the exception of the rear main seal. I replaced the heater motor with a larger than factory one, as that one failed. The replacement heater will run you out of the truck in the winter. Very solid heater. This truck has no air conditioning from the factory and I didn’t add it. So, no AC.
In September of 2016, I replaced the gas tank (31 gallons) and the fuel sending unit inside the tank, the power steering pump and all hoses, all eight spark plugs with Autolite Platinums and a new battery. All hoses and the serpentine belt are new as well as the thermostat. I had a plunger problem with the original Quadrajet and decided to replace it with a Holley 4 barrel. But will include the original Q-Jet if you want. It has open exhaust from the manifolds back to the two chamber Flow masters, one on each side, so true dual exhaust. Sounds incredible. 6" of Rough Country suspension lift and 35" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains, with approximately 70% of the tread remaining. I bought the rear bench seat out of a later model suburban but it clips right in. The bench is gray cloth interior. Other than that, interior is 100% stock. Seats are worn with tears but not beyond repair. Front bumper is brand new.
