WHAT DOES SALVAGE/REBUILT MEAN:Many people are not familiar with the meaning of a salvage title, below is a brief explanation of the Salvage terminology:Salvage basically means that the insurance company decided not to fix the car and paid off the owner. By issuing a Salvage title, Insurance Company is taking themselves out of any liability issues in the future. Does salvage mean the car is totaled, not always. Sometimes the car has minor damage but the parts are very expensive. Sometimes the owner does not want to get his vehicle repaired and depending on the Insurance Company and the year of the car, Insurance company will pay off the car. If the car gets stolen then Insurance company has thirty days to recover the vehicle, if the car is not recovered in thirty days, Insurance company pays off the owner and once the car is recovered, it is brought to the auction with a Salvage title. In addition, if the vehecle belongs to a corporate lease, a fleet, a corporation vehicle, a company vehicle, those organizations/corporations are not in the business of repairing that car, they automatically have the insurance company take possession of that vehicle and go out and repurchase a new one, why? they save time, energy and money, they see fit that their operations are not att all held back due to a lengthy bodyshop repair which could take weeks, even months! That vehicle anyways will be written off as a business expense as well as the purchase of their new vehicle.
