Offered for sale is a very nice Vette-

1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. Originally Safari Yellow (paint code 924) with black interior and black convertible top. Build date-F-18 (Thursday, January 18th, 1968). This is an original L-71 427 4 Bolt 435HP 3X2 4 speed car. This is a numbers matching vehicle with theoriginal L-71 427 435 HP engine - the engine is out of the vehicle but will be offeredto the winner of this auction- it isNOTincluded in this auction, and I willNOTsell the original engine to anyone other than the winner of this auction- please do not ask. I will not separate it from the car unless the winning bidder does not want to purchase it. If you win the auction, you will have the option of purchasing the original 427 separately if you so choose. The winner is not obligated to purchase the original engine. This auction includes the 350 Corvette engine that is in the car now. See details below on the L-71 427 engine.

The car currently has a great running, recently rebuilt '73 Corvette 350 small block installed. The 350 engine is installed in the carandincluded the auction. The original Muncie M-21 close ratio 4 speed is also in the car and goes with the car-Casting #3925660, stamp codeP 8 T 20, DatedDecember 20th, 1967. The engine was rebuilt a few years or so ago and runs well, no issues, it has around 10,000 miles on it. 4 speed is solid, shifts as is should, no issues. Drive train is complete and operates as it should, no leaks, no rear end chatter, etc, everything is solid. Differential cover is not cracked like many of them are. New rear leaf spring installed also.

The running gear has all been freshly rebuilt- all suspension and steering mechanisms have been rebuilt including the following: Front "A" Frame bushings (8), ball joints (4) both uppers and lowers, tie rods (all), new front coil springs, shocks, and drag link. Rear leaf spring, bushings and stabilizer links all replaced with new. Complete 4 wheel disc brake system has been replaced/rebuilt, calipers, rotors, pads, hoses. New wheels and tires installed- New black slotted 17" X 9" wheels installed with 245 45 ZR 17 Pirelli's that have less than 50 miles on them. These are the wheels and tires that are on the car nowandincluded in the auction- a few of the pictures show the old tires and spoke wheels that were replaced recently.

Mechanically this car is complete and solid and has no issues that need to be addressed. It starts, runs, drives, steers, and brakes as it should. And yes, it rides like a '68 Vette, so do not expect the feel of a Cadillac. This car grabs the road and has a firm ride.

The body of the car has no serious issues but will need some cosmetic restoration. Paint is fair but looks okay for the most part. Body is complete with the following exceptions- needs side view mirrors, door seals, window seals, and front grille pieces. I have the original grille pieces but they should be replaced- but could be used as is. New front and rear bumpers were installed recently. There are no visible cracks anywhere in the fiberglass that I have found during inspection. The hood on the car is not original and also needs release latches and a release cable. The car has absolutely no rust problems, frame is solid and in excellent condition, bird cage and windshield header are also in excellent condition. The convertible top isnewand all latches are operational. Included with the car is theoriginal removable hardtop. The car will be shipped with the soft top stowed and the hard top in place. I believe this car was originally a California car until just a few years ago when I purchased it myself outside the San Francisco Bay area.

The interior is mostly original and complete. The seats have been restored in leather, new carpet has been installed recently as well. The lights all work, and the headlights raise and lower as they should. All glass is good. The wipers no not work. The rest of the interior is original and in pretty good condition. Oil, fuel, amp, and temp gauges work, speedometer and tachometer do not. They were not hooked up when the engine was installed. Stereo is from a Corvette, but I'm not certain if it's from '68, it's a Corvette cassette deck and I don't think those were available in '68.

This is a nice car that should be considered a 'driver quality' car. It is not a $50,000.00 show car. It is a $15,000.00-$17,000.00 fun driver. It needs a few things, but overall it's a solid, complete car that could easily be restored back to original without a huge investment. I've outlined the details as honestly as possible- see pictures for more details. This is a nice car that I have listed at a low price with the option of taking reasonable offers. I have more than $19,000.00 in this car with all of the work and new parts over the last few years, but I'm in a position that I need to sell it because of other financial commitments. So it's priced to sell!Clean/Clear Nebraska Title. The car is in Omaha Nebraska and I will be happy to assist with shipping coordination. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer- Please follow the link for a vehicle shipping quote in the listing prior to bidding. Most shippers will ship this car anywhere in the lower 48 for less than $500.00.

If you are the fortunate winner of this car, I will offer the original numbers matching L-71 427 4-Bolt big block engine for sale to you and only you at the close of the auction. This engine is the true original in this car to the best of my knowledge, it is not a re-stamp or clone or something pieced together to mimic a 'numbers matching' vehicle. I purchased it with the car when I bought it. If you want it, great, if not, I will be glad to keep it. This is a very special engine that will dramatically increase the value of this car and bring it back to the original L-71 car it was when it was new. 435 HP 427 4-Bolt, New 3X2 Holley carburetors (4055 Center, 3659 F&R, original aluminum 'snowflake' intake (3919852), Original square port 840 heads. All dates and numbers match. The original block has been sleeved back to standard size, new pistons, rings, all bearings are included. Crank and rods also included. About $4,000 invested in just the machine work on this engine. The engine has not been assembled. The price on the engine for the winning bidder is negotiable, but I will offer it to the winner for the cost I have in it- $7,800.00. Find the same engines on Ebay for $10K-$15K. But this one matches the car, so the winner can decide on the additional investment, however, the winner is NOT obligated to purchase the original engine.
