America's favorite mode of transportation is finally commanding the respect it deserves. And with awesome customs like this award-winning 3100 mixing red carpet looks with everyday drivability, it's not hard to see why. A perfect blend of timeless style and proven mechanicals, this supercharged half-ton is a first-rate exercise in old school charm and vintage swagger. And if you're looking for a handsome cruiser that can be enjoyed for years to come, it's the classic of your dreams!
BODYWORK/TRIM
Professionally rehabilitated and customized during a detailed, body-off restoration, this striking 3100 spent most of its life as a California ranch truck. In what amounted to a systematic, high-dollar rebuild, its solid body was completely stripped, tastefully modified and layered in a sweet combination of green fleck and silver fleck 2-stage. And in 2005, the truck debuted as a head turning half-ton that spent the better part of the next decade being showered in accolades like Best Interior, Best Paint, Best Engine and Best Pick-Up!
While its basic shape is certainly appealing, first rate detailing is what makes this Chevy really pop. At the front of the truck, a polished bumper founds a polished grille between frenched parking lamps and chrome-trimmed tri-bar headlights. Behind that grille, a shaved hood leads the eye to smoked glass, which floats between shaved drip rails, chrome-capped wipers and sleek hot rod mirrors. Opposite that roof, a shaved profile centers custom flames between a frenched antenna and low-profile exhaust tips. And at the back of that profile, a smooth tailgate founds a custom tag pocket and a Chevrolet-themed Center High Mount Stop Lamp between an Oak bed, a custom roll pan and slender LED taillights.
ENGINE
Exercise the truck's chrome hood supports and you'll find 350 cubic inches of Chevrolet small block that, thanks to a rowdy Comp cam and polished Weiand 142 supercharger, creates an impressive 515 horsepower! At the top of that fully sorted mill, a Weiand Hi-Tek air cleaner funnels wind in to a coated Holley carburetor, which seats a small Summit pressure gauge between polished and braided fuel lines. Beneath the blower, a polished intake perfectly complements polished and milled valve covers, which hang polished breathers and trick wingnut ties over lightweight Edelbrock Performer heads. Behind those breathers, a modern HEI distributor shoots spark through loomed Taylor Spiro Pro plug wires. At the front of those looms, bright serpentine components spin a polished water pump beneath a polished alternator and polished AC compressor. In front of those ancillaries, a green core support hugs a beefy Be Cool radiator, which plays well with two corrugated hoses, a polished expansion tank and two electric puller fans. And, despite being a thoroughly massaged piece, the mean, green mill looks right at home in the truck's spotless, silver engine compartment.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
One peek under this sweet pickup reveals solid bones that were built to cruise. Behind the 350, a green Turbo-Hydramatic 350 3-speed twists a tough 10-bolt axle. That first-rate drivetrain pushes a modern 4-link suspension. Tracking is provided by an independent front-half, which features modern power steering. Braking is equally class, with a floor mounted booster charging green calipers and drums. Coated Hedman Hedders dump spent gases in to 2.5-inch pipes, which breathe through throaty Flowmaster mufflers. As with the truck's body and engine, detailing is on point, with a stainless fuel tank and polished oil pan complementing a polished flywheel shied and polished transmission pan. And power meets the pavement through chromed Panther Juices, which twist 225/35ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As in front of 285/30ZR20 BF Goodrich g-Force T/As.
INTERIOR
Pop this Chevy's electronic doors and you'll find a completely custom interior that blends hot paint and custom flamework with custom leather and suede trim. Front and center, a smoothed dash seats green-lit Dakota Digital telemetry above components for Southern Air climate control. Opposite that dash, modern bucket seats stretch tight hides around fluid power adjustment. Between those seats, a custom console centers a Hurst Pro-Matic shifter behind modern JVC audio. At the bottom of that console, leather sills frame lit carpet, which rides under billet foot pedals. At the edges of that carpet, tailored door panels prop billet handles in front of fluid power windows. And the driver stays connected to the road through a fully polished steering wheel that laps a polished, titling column.
