1965 Chevrolet Corvette Description
1965 Corvette convertible. The engine is the 327 c.i. with 300 HP.
All matching numbers. This is an almost all complete, original car.
It has all original engine and 4 speed manual transmission.
It has the original 1965 Kelsey-Hayes knock-off racing style rims.
Original K-H turbine wheels are currently going for $10-15,000 per set.
The original teak wood steering wheel is there and in fair condition.
Positives:
I had the engine rebuilt several years ago and it has had very few
miles put on it since then.
The body is very straight and shows no signs that it has ever been wrecked
or had body work done.
I had it painted back to the original red years ago and it would not take much to repaint.
The convertible top frame is there and in good condition.
The brake master cylinder is new and the calipers have been recently rebuilt.
No major mechanical work needs to be done to restore it.
Negatives:
The hub inserts on the wheel knock-off spinners are gone
One vent window crank is gone
The original radio has been replaced by a later model Corvette cassette player
There is one place above a wheel well where the body need a little repair (see picture)
The chrome (bumpers, etc.) needs to be redone.
I bought this car in 1980. After enjoying it for 36 years, I have finally decided that I would rather spend my time and money on my other toys. The car has nothing major wrong with it. It starts, drives, handles and sounds great. And it looks pretty good, too, but IT NEEDS RESTORING.
