1960 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Description

1960 Chevrolet Belair

Big Block 348

M21 4-Speed Manual

Presented for auction is this dialed-in ’60 Belair Bubbletop sleeper. Sold new at Ed Lee Chevrolet in Mineral Springs, TX, it started life as a 6-cylinder Powerglide car. Showing what appears to be very low original mileage, it was acquired in 2007 by a restorer who specializes in 58-64 Chevrolets. He used his years of experience to perform a seamless transplant of big block power, mated to a manual transmission. In addition, he added 605 power-steering, all new brakes and suspension, and a posi 3.55 rear-end.

Featuring straight bumpers with excellent chrome, and original good looking trim, with minimal flaws. All of the glass is the original E-Z-Eye tinted items from new, including the windshield, and is in outstanding condition, further providing provenance to the indicated mileage of 36,316. T3 headlights and tail-light lenses are crystal clear, the chrome on the wing trim pieces is excellent, and the trunk contains the matching spare wheel and tire, jack, and lug wrench.

With the exception of the seat upholstery, the interior is all original, and in remarkable condition. Original flooring, carpet, door panels, and weather-stripping add a wonderful mild patina, and compliment the first class workmanship applied when recovering the front and rear seats. The steering wheel has no cracks, and is mounted to a correct 4-speed steering column. A vintage style Sun tachometer sits atop a replacement gauge pod, and the original un-drilled item is included.

The period correct 348 has approximately 2,500 miles on the rebuild, and starts with the flick of the key, and runs beautifully. The M21 moves through the gears with precision, and the car brakes and handles very well. The 605 power-steering makes driving around town effortless, and the Rochester 4-Jet carb has been rebuilt and tuned. The undercarriage looks as good as the top side, and this car is ready for event driving.

Only for sale due to the purchase of a mid-year Corvette, and limited garage space. To view in person prior to auction end, please contact me directly on 408-656-1491.
