1971 Chevrolet C-10 CST Description

1971 Chevrolet C10 CST in short bed configuration. It is a 2-owner lifetime Texas truck from day one until I brought it to MI in early spring last year and it’s always stored indoors in my private climate controlled facility when not being enjoyed with the rest of my collection. It has 101,733 original miles but was frame-off nut and bolt restored 2 years ago in its original two-tone yellow and white with a small amount of pearl mixed in and it pops in the sun. It retains all of its original trim, bumpers, and rare hub caps which are all in great condition. During the restoration the bumpers were re-chromed, an aftermarket AM/FM radio with one Pioneer co-axial speaker in each door were installed, and polyurethane bushings all around were installed. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes, and air condition and a new interior was installed at the time of restoration in a yellow and white color scheme to matching the exterior.

The intent was to make it appear like it would new on the Texas Chevrolet showroom back in 1971 but a few minor custom touches were such as the trace amount of pearl in the paint, aftermarket mirrors from LMC that have ghost turn signals in the glass which are untraceable until the blinker is turned on, and a rhino liner in the bed as it was not originally equipped with a wood bed. The idea was to lay down the rhino liner to make the bed usable to haul coolers and lawn chairs to your favorite car event.

Decoding the VIN reveals it was manufactured in the Atlanta, GA facility as a ½ ton pickup with RWD and a 6 cylinder. Being originally born with a straight 6 cylinder hooked up to a 2-speed Powerglide automatic wasn’t going to cut it so during the restoration a 350 hooked to a 3-speed Turbo 350 automatic was swapped in. The 350 is from a 1970 C10 and is code TAX which is 350ci/255hp so it is a period correct engine. In July I had Motor City Solutions in Taylor, MI install many new parts including: new brakes, brake lines, wheel bearings, ball joints, inner tie rods, outer tie rods, new battery cables, fuel lines, cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs, coil pack, transmission filter and gasket, speedometer cable, alignment... Too much to list and I have all the receipts to document the work which totals over $3,500. You name it and it's been done to provide peace of mind while enjoying this classic pickup. I also have the original owner's manual with plastic pouch, a reproduction owner's manual with plastic pouch, and an original 1971 Chevrolet Pickups marketing brochure.

I've spent a lot of time and money making this a great driver that board lines on show truck. It's in excellent shape all around and drives 70mph all day long on the freeway. It's so nice I used it in my wedding recently and it's a hit everywhere I take it and is a crowd pleaser. No disappointments to be found here, just smiles for miles.
