You’re looking at what may be the finest-preserved and impeccably-maintained 1996 Chevy Impala SS on the planet. Last year of the iconic SS with analog gauges, center shift console and the most desirable color Dark Green/Gray Metallic. Equipped with the rare Impala SS Preferred Equipment Group: 6-way Power Passenger Seat, Auto Day/Night Rearview Mirror, Illuminated RH Covered Visor Mirror, Twilight Sentinel Headlamp System, AM/FM Stereo Radio/CD, and Heat Reflective Windshield.

Purchased from the original owner in December with just 10,489 miles. My plans to modify the vehicle with a few under hood goodies and a custom exhaust were dashed aspreservationreality set in. Too darn nice to change even a hose clamp! So off she goes to a new loving home while I look for a driver replacement.

Let’s begin by stating that not all low mileage cars are a Holy Grail. Many have languished and require costly recommissioning while others have been stored improperly or serviced with bogus parts. When purchased on April 9, 1997 from Pape Chevrolet, the owner would not allow the dealer to prep the car for fear of effects from machine washing! He used only GM parts for the few maintenance items required over the years and faithfully changed all fluids including Mobil 1. Always stored indoors and driving only in ideal weather. The paint is 100% factory finish and was never subject to buffing or wet sanding. The lamp lenses, glass, rubber and chrome are mint. Interior is like new. The undercarriage is spotless. Door panel plastic retains its original uniform grey color. Original perfect spare tire and jack tools. She sits on her original BG Goodrich P255/50ZR-17 tires and the 17” cast aluminum rims are flawless. The console and coin tray are as crisp and unused as Day One. The radiator overflow tank was replaced with an OEM part because the original tank had slightly yellowed (included in sale). Also included are a new-in-the-box Colgan Custom bra and GM door drip deflectors. Plus two hard-copy volumes of the Workshop Manual, two sets of keys, window sticker, maintenance receipts, dealer invoice and correspondence from selling dealer Pape Chevrolet. Even the door edge guards applied during shipping are present along with a Polaroid photo of the original owner taking delivery! There’s numerous magazine articles and a few VHS tapes of recorded programs featuring the SS model when new. Oh, and a brand new California “Dustop Grey” car cover with “Impala SS” embroidered logo.
