96 Chevy Tahoe / 2WD / 2Dr / LT4 HOTCAM / Blackbear Performance / PCM4Less
1996 Chevrolet Tahoe LT Description
This is a solid, well-preserved 1996 Chevrolet 2-door / 2-wheel drive Tahoe. This truck got me through college and I’m entering the next phase of life (marriage) and the demands of the job require me to drive a truck that’s more utilitarian. This Tahoe has been well kept and the recipient of many performance enhancing improvements over the past several years. I’ll try to list everything:
- Factory 350 Short Block
- Patriot Aluminum Cylinder Heads with 64cc Chambers and 190cc Intake Runners
- GM Performance LT4 Hot Cam
- 1.6 Ratio Comp Roller Rocker Arms
- Comp Roller Lifters
- Ported Factory Intake Manifold
- GM Spider Injection (upgraded version)
- MSD 10mm Spark Plug Wires
- Trans Dapt 1 Inch Throttle Body Spacer
- Ported Factory Throttle Body
- Volant Cold Air Intake
- Edelbrock Shorty Headers
- Magnaflow Dual In/Dual Out Muffler with Dual Chrome Exhaust Tips
- 2 custom tunes; 1 by Blackbear Performance, the other by PCMForLess. The Blackbear PCM is currently installed and offers a slightly better level of performance at WOT, but they’re both very good.
- DJM 3 inch Lowering Lower Control Arms with polyurethane bushings
- Belltech 4 inch Drop Leaf Springs in the rear.
- Belltech Shocks all the way around
- Belltech Front and Rear Sway Bars
- Billet Grille Inserts
- Street Scene "Sport" Rear View Mirrors
- BRAND NEW Factory Headlights, Turn Signals and Corner Markers
- BRAND NEW LED Brake Lights and 3rd Brake Light

- JVC Bluetooth Stereo with Kicker Speakers in the front doors and rear roof
The truck is a solid driver! The LT4 hotcam has a wicked, lopey idle to it, and the power-curve is more in the mid to upper RPM range. I originally bought the truck in the summer of 2010 when it had a little over 126,000 miles on it.At that time, the transmission was beginning to slip, so I had it built by Hirst Transmissions in Pensacola, Florida. They’re an old, established shop with a reputation for high-quality work. The transmission shifts firm (due to programming) and is still going strong after 70,000 miles!
This truck has plenty of life in it and is the perfect platform for any car/truck enthusiast who likes to work on their own ride.
