1998 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Description

You are bidding on a 1998 Chevrolet Corvette in Fairway Green with a manual transmission. It has a free and clear title.

The color is paint code 87 - Fairway Green. This is a rare color for C5 Corvettes. Only 153 Coupes were painted Fairway Green (70 Convertibles). Total 1998 production was 31,084 and of these, less than 23% were equipped with manual transmissions, making this a relatively unusual car.

The car starts, runs, drives, stops and shifts as it should.

  • New clutch, flywheel, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and Tick Speed Bleeder were installed by ASE certified Corvette specialist and broken-in according to spec, less than 3000 miles old

  • New rear main seal done at same time as clutch

  • 4-wheel alignment

  • Aux input added to the stereo

  • The electrical system (other than aux input added to stereo) is untouched -- i.e. stock

There are no codes, the ABS, Traction Control, and TPMS work as they should.

It comes with 2 keys, 1 remote, and both tops (clear and painted). The car is stock other than the Tick Speed Bleeder.

I would (and do) drive this car anywhere, any distance with confidence. The miles I put on the car were mostly during multiple state trips.

Items of note:

  • The driver's seat has a small rip (see photo) and it has the Corvette driver's seat "rock." This is easily fixable should you choose to do so. It didn't bother me.

  • At start-up, the fuel pump whines - they do this, it quiets down.

  • The accessory belt can sometimes squeal - a new belt should do the trick

  • The car handles great, but at some point, new control arm bushings will be in order

  • There is a slight (not very noticeable) buff haze/burn on the top rear bumper and hatch, right where the two meet. I've included a photo.

  • The targa top weatherstrip is slightly torn.

  • FM Radio reception is not good - in all likelihood related to the aux input. But the stereo sounds good and music played from phone through aux input sounds good.

As-Is - No Warranty Expressed or Implied

The car is being sold as-is. I've done my best to describe it to you. Please view the pictures and ask your questions.

PAYMENT:

Full payment is due within 7 days of auction close. Your winning bid is not a placeholder to show up and then negotiate a better price. I won't waste your time, please don't waste mine. If I don't have full payment, the car will be relisted and the deposit forfeited.

FUNDS MUST CLEAR MY BANK BEFORE THE CAR LEAVES MY POSSESSION.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of fake checks out there. When my bank says the funds are securely in my account with no possible "take backs," reversals, or NSF surprises, the car is yours for the taking, but not until then. Can't wait? Bring Cash, wire the money, or bid on another bike. It's up to you.

SHIPPING / Pick-Up: I will happily work with your shipper and can suggest one I've used with success. Also, feel free to fly in to Chicago O'Hare and either be driven (I have a good company I use, will cost you around $90) or take the train ($10) and drive the car home. If you need time to make arrangements, I can store the car for you. The first two weeks are

free.

Please bid with confidence. Look at my feedback. I'm not a dealer, but I've bought and sold a number of vehicles via eBay. I understand both sides of the deal and will do whatever I can to make this a pleasant experience for both of us.

Please do the same.
