1964 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport Description
This is a great old impala. I'm personally not the biggest of fans of these old boats but I know plenty of people are. I took the car in on a trade on a pick up that I had that a gentleman really wanted. It was a 57 3200, project truck that I was never going to get around to having completed. I had all the parts and pieces but not the time, interest or money to finish. The gentleman that traded me this Impala really wanted the old truck and he has the facilities and ability to get it finished. I'm not a dealer or an expert so I might not be able to answer everything for you if you have questions but I will certainly try. This car was used as a daily driver by the gentlemen that I received it from and I have continued to drive it daily since. It is an awesome old car. Drives incredibly well, you can let your hands off the wheel and it will continue in a straight line. Body looks to be in incredible condition. From what the gentleman told me, this car is a parts matching car with the exception of the obvious wheels and tires, some after market gauges and someone has added a crappy cassette player at some point in time. I guess whoever added the cassette player decided the speakers were worth keeping as the package tray has holes where speaker once resided. The car has the original 350/300HP engine, power brakes and power steering which all work very well. This car isn't quite a trailer queen but it wouldn't take much to get it there. You will not be embarrassed by this car. From my time with the car, I would not hesitate to take a long trip in it. No smoke, great oil pressure and coolant temperature. Other than some fading the passenger and rear seats seem to have rarely been used. Driver's seat needs repair, perfectly fine to sit in and drive but has tears and pretty well broken down. Carpet is in decent shape, faded but fine for a driver. Headliner is nice and tight but has some small tears, again fine for a driver. Dash pad needs replaced, has cracked badly over the years. Couple of technical issues that are probably easy fixes but I don't have the time or money to deal with. The turn signal lever is missing so currently no using arm signals. The horn doesn't work. As with all these old cars, the speedometer needle works in a sense, it just like to bounce around some, same with the fuel gauge. At some point, someone really got cheap or didn't have the money or knowledge to replace the ignition switch. A toggle switch has been put in that has to be switched and then turning the ignition will start the car. Problem is that however this was done, they key isn't required to start the car and in my opinion the toggle switch isn't hidden well enough. It is located on the driver's side under the dash, near the left knee. Again, should be an easy fix. Not a paint expert but appears to be a pretty good paint job. If someone wanted this car as a driver, it's ready to go with the simple repairs that I suggested above. If someone wanted this car to be a pure show car, I honestly don't think it would take very much to get it there. Ask questions and I will do my best to answer. The car is for sale locally as well so you'll have to forgive me if it get sold before the auction is over. Deposit is non-refundable. Reserve is a good bit lower than the buy it now but if someone wants it immediately, I'm not going to stop them. I'm fairly confident that the 36,000 plus mileage has been rolled over at least once. I have no idea of the actual mileage. Almost forgot, the rear tires are either too big and/or new shocks are needed. It's not terrible but they do rub when there is a dip or similar when driving.
