You are looking at a 1984 Corvette modified to look like a 96 Corvette Grand Sport. This is a z51 car. The car has factory gm 96 body panels on it to replicate a 96 Corvette. I even replaced the wheel wells and all hardware new from dealer before having it painted. Before painting it I had the vehicle media blasted and re gel coated any bare spots. Multiple coats of epoxy primer and lastly a show paint job that makes factory paint look like a orange! At car shows everyone asks who painted it! You can't feel the stripes they are smooth painted on with no edges...wet sanded to perfection! This is a $10,000 paint job! Painted by Skrips auto in Prospect ct...they do phenomenal work and are not cheap!
It has a 383 stroker engine with over 450 horse power! It has dart pro 1 aluminum heads, hydraulic roller cam,Harland sharp roller rockers, rpm air gap polished dual plane intake, holly 750 4 barrel carb...yup she's carburated & all factory gauges work! The 700 r 4 is far from stock....it's built with a new planetary, bigger servos, more clutches in 3/4 shifts, custom built 2800 stall converter, trans go shift kit, 373 gears in rear, solid spicer universal joints! Zr1 chrome wheels with tires with less then 1000 miles on them! cross drilled/slotted rooters with calipers & pads painted to match car, true dual exhaust with full length ceramic coated headers and hooker aero chamber mufflers...This car will set off car alarms if you stomp it! This car doesnt sound like a corvette it sounds like a muscle car!
The interior was replaced with new rugs, door panels and seats about 10 years ago but still in good condition. It has a Chrome harness bar with camera. Published in corvette enthusiast magazine 2 times with many trophies from local shows...Interior has real carbon fiber dash that was signed by Dave Mchellan, Dave Hill & Dick Guildstrand! There are 3 red aircraft switches on dash...1 starts it, 1 is for the fan and the third was gonna be for nitrous but I never ended up installing...nice custom touch that gets a lot of attention!
I brought it to the track one time just to see what it could do. I went down the track only 4 times. It was hot & humid & she ran 12.66@ 113mph. I'm guessing it's really an 11 second car on the right day! It's a 1 of a kind car that I will regret selling 4 sure... I owned it for over fifteen years! I would be happy to answer any questions...
Now for the bad...the ac does not work, the heater/ac control unit for blower is stuck on one speed as knob is stripped, the left Headlight is lazy to close as one of the gears is on way out ($30 part), due to being carbureted the brakes need to build up vacuum before the operate correctly...been like this since I carbureted it...feels like a bad brake booster for about 10 minutes...after that brakes are perfect, there are some bubbles on the hood Drivers side which you have to be up close to spot, the bottom rockers at pinch weld are a little damaged from putting on lifts over the years...easy and cheap to replace...other wise paint is incredible and lastly the front targa top hold downs are stripped so it rattles if you use it...I only used if cought in rain which rarely happened as I only used on perfect days...way too much power to drive in the rain...remember it's a 33 year old car that does not have traction control at any of the other things the new cars with this power have! None of these things stop it from being a bad ass fun car!
