1994 Chevrolet Camaro Auto Cross SCCA WRL Chump Car Lemons IMSA V6 Race Car
1994 Chevrolet Camaro Description
You are bidding on a very nice super clean 1994 Camaro auto cross / professionally constructed race car.
Here is what I know about the car's history:This Camaro was a California delivery and spent most of its life there. It was turned into a race car sometime after 2005 in California and where it was raced is a mystery. It was then purchased by someone in St. Louis... the car carries tech stickers from one drivers school in St. Louis in 2012 and from Road America in 2011. It was then purchased by someone in Florida but never raced. I purchased the car in March 2015 and brought it back to St. Louis. The car does not have a title and it does not have a log book. I auto crossed the car 3 times last summer with the local sports car club and had a great time and found the car to be a great stable platform to build from. This little V6 Camaro was consistently .2 to .3 seconds slower on old tires than my buddy's 1996 Corvette running on fresher bigger tires. I judge a new set of sticky tires will make a huge difference.
The car is set up as a road racer:This 1994 Camaro has had the interior removed and the interior cabin repainted white. The 6 point roll cage was expertly installed and tied into the front door pillars as well. The steering column is a racing type with removable wheel. Expertly cut black sheet metal fills the void from the stock dash to the windshield. All air bags have been removed. Toggle switches control ignition, fuel and wipers. Lights work on the stock switch. Emergency brake is functional. All glass is still in the car and side windows roll up and down with handles indexed to miss the roll cage when fully up and fully down. The red racing seat is adjustable and is equipped with a 5 point racing harness. The car also has a non-matching passenger racing seat with 4 point harness making it an ideal drivers school car. Door locks and rear hatch lock are functional making it easy to secure the car if left in a paddock over night. The car starts right up and runs great... sounds great as well through partially open exhaust. Clutch works the way it should as does the 5-speed gearbox.
Wheels and Tires:The car is photographed with 16" x 8" GM alloy wheels with Bridgestone Potenza tires (which are old) the car also has a set of four 15" x 8" aftermarket alloy wheels with P225/55ZR15 Hoosier race tires (which are also old).
What it weighs:This race car weighs in at 2978 pounds with 5/8 tank of fuel. The break down of the weight is as follows: LF 847 LR 641 RF 888 RR 602 (Note that the battery is still in the stock location and needs to be relocated to the right rear. The good news (at least for me) is that the car at this weight, with the stock engine HP rating of 160 falls into the World Racing League GP4 class where, I judge, with some handling improvements would be VERY COMPETITIVE. I'm not sure about classes for Lemons and Chump Car.
Why I'm Selling? For the simple reason I just stated above... I thought I would be satisfied to auto cross this car, but I know if I don't sell it now, I'm going to go endurance racing with the WRL and I want to give someone else a chance to do something with the car before I head down that slippery slope.
