As a car enthusiast, you already know modern technology allows us to transform vintage platforms into incredible performance machines. But you probably don't realize the extent to which those machines are built. In what amounts to literally buying a car and sending it directly to a reputable shop, you can have a classic that feels just as comfortable, performs just as well and looks twice as nice as any showroom new equivalent. And that's exactly what happened with this insane Camaro pro-tourer. Born from universal appeal and broad aftermarket support, this sinister coupe is a virtual tour-de-force of proven mechanicals. And with a clean body that's dropped on a custom suspension, fitted with a leather-lined interior and bolted to a hot Chevy 383 stroker small block, it's the kind of killer classic that makes factory-fresh bowties shake in their run-flats. If you're shopping for some fully-sorted muscle that puts a modern twist on an old-school favorite, you're looking at your next car!
The beneficiary of a professional, frame-off restoration, this slick ‘69 Camaro features a seamless custom appearance that's highlighted by an immaculate two-tone coat of silver and burgundy paint, with trick ghosted factory stripes laid on the top surfaces. Take one look down the sides of the car's rock-solid body and it becomes very obvious that great care was taken to ensure every panel was aligned to better-than-factory standards. Step closer to that body's mirror-like pigment and check out its straight and ripple-free surfaces, which are a product of both clean OEM sheet metal and high-quality replacement panels. Grab the pivotal pieces of that well-adjusted sheet metal and experience the kind of excellent fit that's right at home reflecting a summertime car show. Then step back to admire one very well-done pro-tourer that's built to exacting specifications thanks to a great combination of skilled workmanship and first-rate finishing techniques.
On the sacred tree of hot rodding, pro-touring foliage, along with its pro-street brethren, often receives the brightest light. That means high-end, high profile cars must have exceptional looks to back up their big claims. And nowhere is that dedicated attention to aesthetics more prevalent than this Camaro's top notch detailing. At the front of the car's slick body, a satin black grille hangs between those factory headlights, with crisp new parking lamps and a fiberglass D80 chin spoiler. Above that grille, a tasteful cowl induction hood leads the eye to brand new glass that's framed in stainless factory trim, and traced by new drip rails. At the sides of that hood, sculpted fenders combine with custom side door mirrors, shaved door handles with keyless entry and factory chrome marker lamps to add just the right amount of detail to the car's glossy profile. And at the back of those quarters, flush-fit Fesler LED tail lights hang between a gloss burgundy decklid spoiler and finished off with the nice chrome factory style bumper.
That slick combination of metallic pigment and high-class trim certainly is pretty, but now it's time to get serious. Cranking out tons of horsepower to the rear wheels, the lightweight, high performance 383 stroker rumbling beneath this car's hood is a technological testament to the old rule: more cubic inches equals more horsepower! The aluminum radiator with dual cooling fans easily keeps this 383 stroker cool on those hot summer days. The engine is dressed up nice with a March Performance pulley system as well as some nice valve covers and an aluminum intake manifold. Add in some custom panels to clean things up and you have the makings for a real nice looking engine bay as seen here.
Take a gander under this wicked F-Body and you'll find a fully detailed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school durability. Rock-solid floor pans wear a smooth coat of paint which are about as nice as the rest of the car. At the center of those floors, a GM TH350 Automatic transmission spins a familiar 9 inch rear end that's fitted with high-quality Moser axles and stout 3.73 gears. That buff drivetrain hangs in a custom TCI Tubular front and chrome 4 link rear suspension, which makes excellent use of tubular control arms, TCI Tubular front subframe connectors and a full set of polished coil-overs shocks. That world-class suspension rides inside billet aluminum polished calipers up front and in the rear, that squeeze big, slotted rotors via a Baer proportioning valve and custom brake booster. Those brakes cling to a modern power steering system that ensures the car turns as well as it accelerates. Exhaust flows from the aforementioned headers into custom, true-dual pipes that breathe through Flowmaster mufflers. And torque melts the pavement thanks to American Racing wheels famous Torque thrust style wheels and 245/45ZR17 front and 2555/50ZR17 rear Ventru Sport K104 tires.
As you can tell by our pictures, not a detail was missed on this Chevy's fully sorted undercarriage. And the car runs and sounds every bit as good as it looks: ready to seek and destroy. Behind this Camaro's solid-closing doors you'll find a supple Upholstery Unlimited interior that wraps firm racing style seats in a nice blend of contemporary style and modern convenience. At the front of the car, a custom, leather-topped dash hangs a slick set of Auto-Meter Instruments gauges above a custom sound system that's implanted in the custom center console, with a sweet Outlaw ratchet shifter in the center and a set of 4 GM factory window switches at the end of the console. Some custom, bright courtesy lamps below that console light up the quality carpet that rides between aluminum sill plates. At the sides of that carpet, reverse-stitched door panels twist small chrome handles in front of integrated accent lights in the kick panel. Above those panels, a supple suede headliner anchors a billet mirror between suede sun visors and suede sail panels. In front of the driver, a snazzy Billet Specialties wheel spins a speed-drilled rim around a subdued Flaming River tilt steering column. And behind the passengers, a fully finished trunk expertly displays a custom sound system over billet hinges and an Optima gel cell battery hidden behind the passenger side panel.
Sometimes the best cars are the ones that speak softly. No blower sticking through the hood, no stall-inducing idle... just a clean, solid, well-constructed classic that was purpose-built to look great and kick asphalt. With its timeless style, excellent performance and modern comfort, this slick Camaro pro-tourer is an absolute blast to drive and instantly admired wherever it goes. Don't miss this chance to own a powerful, well-sorted performer that's as cool today, or dare I say even cooler as it was 44 years ago!
