1997 Chevrolet Express Gladiator Conversion Description

This is a 1997 Chevrolet "Gladiator" conversion 1500van modified for accessibility. It has 53,686 miles.
This is an idealvan for a couple or family who want to get out, see the country, and not be housebound by a wheelchair. I bought this van after my husband became wheelchair bound. We used it to travel throughout New England and the MidAtlantic. It was wonderful, reliable, and had plenty of room. The van includes high-end modifications that make it really useable. And given the cost of wheelchair vans and accessibility equipment, this is bargain. Here is what is included.
Bruno Turny Seat. Thevanis a equipped with a fully automated leather Bruno Turny seat. Basically, the right middle seat is a captain chair that electrically swivels and drops down outside thevanto allow easy access. Here is a video that shows roughly how this works (although it is a different model).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHXF7hUU0wMI believe these cost about $2500 and there is a substantial installation cost. (I think it costs around $5000 with installation but I haven't found anything online about that.)
Wheelchair Lift/Hoist. Thevanalso has the rear bench seat removed to allow for a fairly large wheelchair, or scooter in the back. (The removable third row seat and hardware are included in this sale.) There is a hoist (Equalizer 3) with three types of attachments to fit a variety of chairs/scooters. Here is a link to a picture showing how it works.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IEv05UpMow. The price of these kinds of hoists have come down and they now cost @ $1500. Installation is also extra. http://www.marcsmobility.com/freedom-equalizer-3-wheelchair-lift-used-power-chair-lift.html
Driver Controls. Finally, the driver controls have been modified for someone without the use of legs. The hand control to the left of the steering wheel can accelerate or brake thevan. I don't know what these cost to install. Thevancan be driven using the original controls as the driver modifications don't interfere with them at all. Or they can be removed.
This van made such a difference for us. While it is an older van, has the usual cosmetic issues, ans is sold "as is", it has essential accessibility equipment and is affordable.
