2001 Chevrolet Camaro Description

I’ve owned this car for 12 years and am the third owner. The first owner was Jim Koch, the owner of Sam Adams Brewery. I bought it with 38k miles and have driven it to the 88k miles it has on it today. I’ve honestly driven those miles like a grandma. Never raced it. Never been to the track. I’m actually not quite sure if I’ve ever redlined it.

Since owning the car, I’ve purchased a 1966 Mustang fastback and more recently, a 2015 Corvette. I figured three cars is probably too many for a guy that walks to work so I’ve decided to put the ol’ Camaro up for sale.

The leather is in possibly the best shape I’ve seen in a 17 year old car. The passenger seat and rear seats are literally in new condition and the driver seat, while not in new condition, is much better than most.

New tires 10k miles ago (I’m shocked it’s been 10k miles. They appear to have full tread wear)

New front rotors 5k miles ago

New pads 5k miles ago

AC and heat work great

Completely stock with the exception of an SLP lid, a short throw shifter and an exhaust cutout that is currently capped.

My goal is to be as candid as possible regarding the condition of the car so I’ve done my best to detail any imperfections that come to mind. Surprises are not fun.

The wheels have had their fair share of curb rash and storage has caused some pitting.

The front passenger-side bumper and headlight have two little lines in the paint thanks to a friendly motorist who helped me jump start the car. He crossed his ends of the jumper cable, resulting in the rubber insulation immediately disintegrating into thin air and left two lines in the bumper and headlight.

The driver side door has two blemishes worth mentioning. The side molding has a mark that can likely be buffed out and there’s a chip in the paint on the door next to the keyhole.

If you haven’t already found out in your research for a fourth generation Camaro, GM used a bad adhesive to attach the sail panel to the frame (the part of the roof behind the t-tops). This caused the adhesive to bubble up through the paint. GM issued a service bulletin for this but unfortunately the bubbling didn’t start occurring until after the warranty was up and they wouldn’t cover it. I’ve attached a picture of the infamous bubbling. I’ve heard you’ll be hard pressed to find a fourth gen without this issue.

Other than the paint issues mentioned above, the paint condition is in my opinion, well above average. It’s been garaged every day of my ownership and when it was driven to work, it was garaged there as well. Has never seen an automatic car wash - hand washed only.

The driver side window motor works just fine but has fallen down inside the door panel. The window can still be easily raised and lowered by hand.

The check engine light is on due to a failed O2 sensor which I haven’t been too concerned about since I’m not too concerned about emissions.

The original clutch may be about due for a replacement. I can feel it slip a little from time to time when I get on the gas.

I was in a front fender bender 10 years ago and 10 years later, I can’t tell it’s ever had any damage. Very solid repair job.

Feel free to come by and take a look in person. I’ve done my best to list the imperfections but please do your due diligence as there may be things I’m missing or unaware of.
