1996 Chevrolet Other Pickups SLE Description
Up for Your consideration is this three owner 1996 GMC Suburban 4x4 Starcraft conversion which originally sold for $43,000. This is a completely 100% rust free California vehicle. This was a family road trip car mostly freeway driven, It looks, runs and feels like it has less than half the miles and there is very little wear. It is very rare to find a Starcraft conversion in a Suburban. This fine example runs and drives extremely well. The 454 c.i. 7.4 lt engine starts at the turn of the key and runs/drives extremely well. Very strong and solid feel. The acceleration is positive with tremendous power. The transmission shifts perfectly through all the gears. The 4x4 system works flawlessly. The brakes, steering and suspension are all in tip top shape. All mechanical, electrical and climate control systems operate like they should. The air conditioning blows ice cold air and the heat warms quickly. Everything works and there are no known issues. Cosmetically the truck is original. The body is in great shape (100% rust free body, chassis and frame). The paint finish is extremely lustrous and crisp. All of the (Starcraft) decals are still in tact. There are always going to be minor imperfections on any original 20 year old vehicle (nicks, chips, dings, scuffs, etc.) The overall appearance is outstanding. All of the chrome is in excellent condition. The interior is what this conversion is all about. Accented by the finest wood trim, four captions chairs and limo style interior are just a couple of the luxurious upgrades that have been hand crafted to this interior. With an original price tag of $30,068.10 the Starcraft conversion was a $13,731.60 upgrade.
I recently bought a new set of 8 ply cooper radials (850.00) and I ordered a full set of Bilstein Racing Shocks (400.00) and had them installed when the new tires were put on. I wanted a firmer ride with improved handling and less body roll, and they really helped. I use yellow Bilsteins on about every vehicle I own for that reason.
The water pump had a leak after I bought it, so I replaced it myself and also replacing serpentine belt, upper and lower radiator hoses.
Notice a factory year correct console sitting between the rear captains chairs. I bought it off eBay (300.00), because I was thinking about removing the big Starcraft wood console, and installing the factory one. But, I never had the heart to alter the Starcraft woodwork, so I just set it between the rear seats, and it is still there. I will let it go with the vehicle.
I also have a chrome bull guard with skid plate still in the box, never opened, that I paid over 300.00 for to put on this truck, and I never have. It goes with the truck only if you click "Buy it Now".........

You can tell by looking under the hood at the old school, high torque 454 engine that this suburban has always been babied. When I replaced the water pump, I was amazed at how new it still looked!! Yes, I am a gear head and I appreciate well maintained vehicles. Even with 214k miles, it uses less than a quart of oil between oil changes!!
The drivers side rear seat armrest is missing and bottom of the seat has a small tear. I am including a set (2) leather matching color captain chair seat covers that are still in the box.
The old school TV/VCR works perfectly. Our grandkids love to watch movies using VHS tapes while I ride them around, or park in our pasture. We used to own some Drive-In Theatre's, and it reminds them of watching movies at the drive-in!!There is also a 10 Disc CD changer under the passenger seat that the previous owner disconnected when he installed the new stereo.
This is truly a special Suburban in superb original condition. We have enjoyed our time with this vehicle and know you will too. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a one of a kind conversion. Absolutely no disappointments. The new owner will be pleased. If you have any questions feel free to contact Me anytime before 8pm est. 423-402-5317or email me for more photos PLEASE, I have plenty.Would consider trade only for older diesel 4X4 truck, Military Diesel Hummer, '55-56 chevy trade up or down. NO... Motorcycles of any kind, boats, etc.....Shipping is buyers responsibility, but I will help in any way I can.......... Thanks for looking!
Please read my feedback........No Disappointments!!
On May-07-17 at 17:35:01 PDT, seller added the following information:I had a question which is posted below about why the price is so high. I didn't mention in the question that this is aTIME CAPSULE!! Even with 200k miles. It has really been taken care of.
Plus I have over 2000.00 in new awesome looking tires, Bilstien racing shocks, new front brakes, plus labor.
I will not give it away. I enjoy just cruising around locally in it.. I will lower reserve to around 5 K.............but that's as low as I will go. You want be disappointed!!
Btw, the power sunroof never leaks even in the most powerful car wash!! My wife's '07 Avalanche will leak a few drops, but this suburban wont. To me, that's a good indicator of how well it was taken care of and garaged when not in use........
