1999 Chevrolet S-10 LS Description

Extended Cab S10 Xtreme with LS1/4L60E swapped in. I completed the swap about 5 years ago and have been driving the pickup during the summer, as the opportunities present themselves. I'm selling the truck due to the fact that it isn't getting driven as much as I would like and the opportunities for me to drive it are becoming less. I did most of the work on this swap myself. I have put about 10K miles on the pickup since the swap.
About the Pickup:
Originally a ZQ8 suspension Extended Cab pickup with the Xtreme option. It had a 4.3L V6 engine with 4L60E automatic. I have since swapped the V6 engine and S10 4L60E automatic for an LS1 and 4L60E from a 1999 Z28 Camaro. I rebuilt the engine before it was installed in the pickup. I swapped in a fuel cell for the original gas tank. Relocated the battery to the bed of the pickup. I also put a torsen posi from an F-Body. I installed F-Body LS1 rear disk brakes on the pickup. The front brakes are from a C5 Corvette. The wheels are Boss Motorsports 338 18x9.5 wheels all the way around using 275x40ZR18 BFG g-force Sport Comp 2. Engine has dual 3 in. exhaust with 2 Pypes M80 mufflers and high performance cats.
About the Swap:
I used BRP Hotrods motor and tranny mounts and long tube headers to swap in the engine. I kept the F-Body oil pan and reworked the pickup crossmember to make everything fit. I used Current Performance to make a new engine harness for the engine and transmission. I replaced the 2 piece driveshaft with a 4 in. aluminum driveshaft. I replaced the front upper control arms for tubular units. I was able to keep the AC as well so the pickup is streetable even in hot weather. I used Kwik performace brackets for the serpentine system. The radiator is stock to the pickup but I used Maradyne electric fans to cool it. The ECU controls the fans automatically.
About the Engine:
When I purchased the engine, it had a broken valve spring. I rebuild the entire engine since I had it out. When we put it back together, we installed: ARP Main Studs, ARP Rod Bolts, ARP Head studs, Dual Roller Timing Chain, high volume Melling oil pump, Lunati Cam (P/N 60513, 217*/223* @ 0.050", 0.549" lift with 1.7 rockers, 113 LSA), Lunati 1.8 full roller rockers, and new valve springs and pushrods to match the cam and rockers. I left the heads stock and the intake is stock LS1.
Excessive Motor sports did a speed density tune on a chassis dyno. The pickup has made ~355 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque on their chassis dyno at that time.
About the Transmission:
At the time, the transmission felt good so I did a complete flush and installed a shift kit to handle the extra power.
Other Details:
Installed a roll pan.
Frenched in the license plate.
Replaced the right rear rocker panel due to rust.
Cruise control still works
Issues:
The paint is stock and is showing its age.
Transmission doesn't want to shift out of first. I took it too a trans shop and it is likely that the #2 band is probably damage. The trans will need to be removed for a rebuid, but it is still drivable. (I've driven the pickup 400 miles this way. It doesn't slip when it shifts, but it shifts hard)
The serpentine belt has some misalignment causing belt squel. It doesn't affect performance, but the belt will make noise at different times. I believe a big portion of the issue is due to the fact that I had to install a valve cover spacer to clear the roller rockers and that affected the belt alignment.
The wider front tires are rubbing a little. The main times when I notice it are when the tires are at or near full turn it will hit the inner fenderwells. When the body rolls or compresses the front suspension, the tires rub the ground effects.
Cool Stuff:
Drove the pickup from Dubuque, IA to Charlotte, NC to take it on Hot Rod Power Tour to the Wisconsin Dells. No major issues on the drive.
It has been on Detroit Muscle coverage of the O'Reilly Street Machine Nations twice
I'm sure there's more stuff. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I had this pickup down to only having cab on a frame and put it back together and driven it a lot. I'm not able to drive the pickup as much as it needs to be driven and should go to someone who will use it and enjoy it. I have the vehicle for sale locally as well and the auction could end if it sells locally. I have the vehicle stored in a garage please contact me to view the vehicle or if you want me to deliver it for a 3rd party to review.
