1984 Chevrolet C/20 Camper Special
Great running solid pick up, needs a paint job. I started sanding down the body looking for rust and previous body work. All the rust is surface only, no previous body work I could fine. The doors need body work (fix dents, fill in camper mirror holes) & some new trim pieces. I got this truck to haul stuff around & work on my house. I purchased the truck from a storage yard where it had been sitting for several years. The previous owner had installed a new 350 Cu. In. 260hp factory crate engine. I pulled off the intake, valve covers, removed the spark plugs, distributor & pre lubed all the components before firing the engine. I removed each rocker arm & valve lifter & lubed than reinstalled before firing the engine. The engine does not burn any oil. Installed new plug wires, cap rotor, rebuilt carb, radiator, new water pump, new fuel pump, fan clutch & hoses & alternator. Repaired the AC (blows cold air) updated to R134, new hoses, compressor, belt, & filter dryer. Added dual electric fans that come on with the AC, plus new high performance condensing coil to compliment the R134. Needs blend door in cab repaired. Dual exhaust (no headers) Flow Master 50’s 2 ½” exhaust. All smog equipment hooked up and working. Passed CA smog with flying colors. Engine has approx 15,000 miles on it. Turbo 400 transmission (serviced at the same time of engine) with a new 17,500 GVW oil cooler. 14 bolt 9.5” rear end with 4:10 gears. Truck has one minor oil leak from the valve cover. Truck has dual 20 gallon tanks that work great.
Solid suspension 8600 GVW camper special with HD Frame. New HD rear brakes, larger HD fronts ½ worn. Camper Specials came with larger front calipers & rear drums. KYB Mono Max shocks F&R 15K miles on them. Air lift 5000 pounds air bags 15K on them, newer 16” wheels with 265/75/16 10 ply load range E tires 15K on them. New PS box (rebuild), idler arm, PS pump, master cylinder all have 15K on them.
Interior: Reupholstered bench seat & headliner. Needs a new dash pad, carpets, & inner door panels & weather stripping. All the gauges work accurately (oil pressure, volts, water temp, clock & speedo). Speedo is accurate as is the gas gauge. Tilt whee, cruise (needs repair), blinker & horn work. Electric door locks need repair (could be fuse I never checked it out). Electric windows work fine as do the switches on both doors. The radio works just not very well.
