1996 Collectors Edition LT1 Super Rare Z51 Suspension
1996 Chevrolet Corvette Description
For sale is a Super Rare 96 Collectors Edition with just the 300hp LT1 automatic, but outfitted with the Z51 suspension, and only has 45k actual miles.
There were 21536 Corvettes built in 96 and only 1869 Z51 suspensions were ordered. 4031 Collector Editions coupes were built, and this one is one of only 1210 built with grey interior. According to RareVettes only 365 Collector Editions were built with the Z51 suspension. After that the numbers get a little hazy. I have checked with the museum and with NCRS, and the factory didn't keep the records of how many Z51Vetted were LT1 or LT4's. IF I HAD TO PLACE A BET I WOULD WAGER A LOT OF MONEY THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE COLLECTOR EDITION Z51 CARS WERE EQUIP WITH THE LT4 6SPD MANUAL AND NOT THE LT1 AUTO!! There is also no breakdown between the how many CE coupes were straight coupes and how many have the Targa top. How many of these cars were ordered like this? I don't know, 25, 50 maybe. THIS IS A SUPER RARE BLUE CHIP COLLECTABLE CORVETTE!!
This Corvette is very nice! I bought the car in March strictly as an investment and broke the cardinal rule and fell in love with it. I bought it with 43k + miles and now it has just over 45k miles on it, and has been taken very good care of in it's 21 years. It has a flawless detailed Carfax report. Since owning it we have taken a few road trips a few hours away from home and it performed perfectly. The original paint is a very nice with very minimal chips. The interior is nice but is starting to wear a little on the drivers backrest. The carpet is very nice. The tires are probably 30-50%. There are a couple of small hairline cracks in the Targa top that have been there since I owned it and have not spread. The Bilstein shocks look to be original and perform perfectly. The weatherstripping is not perfect but it doesn't leak. Magna flow exhaust was added and sounds awesome!! The original window sticker also comes with this car. The heat blows hot and the Air blows cold. All buttons and doodads work as new. This car is definitely going to rise in value as time marches on! I am listing this car at $20k but am willing to listen to any reasonable offer.
