1969 Chevy Chevelle Concours Wagon 350 HO, TH350, 12 bolt, Disc brakes, Leather
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Concours Description
You are bidding on a 1969 Chevrolet Concours 6 passenger wagon. This came from the factory with a turbo fire 350, powerglide, 12 bolt 2.73 rear end, Air conditioning, Power steering, Power brakes, Hidden wipers, Dual tailgate (opens sideways or down), power rear window & HD cooling. My father bought this from a friend of his who was the original owner in 1971, It was a well used family car for 20+ years. He gave it to me in 95. As noted above I restored it in 97 and drove it every day for years. It has been driven on many trips from San Diego to the Canadian border, many times to the beaches and to Havasu and the river. All over the Sierras on camping trips. My wife and I drove it to Yosemite last November and while there on to Hetch Hetchy for a day trip. It is in reliable running condition and could drive cross country without any trouble. It pulls very strongly and loves the highway. Mileage has got much better with the new carb and distributor. I have not done a careful check but it is about 18-20 mpg at 70.
It is setup to handle well and be comfortable for a 48 year wagon. It has power leather buckets from a 300M (one of the few retro looking seats in a late model), the back seat was redone in matching vinyl. The seats are power. The leather has a few repairs and they have some wear but still look good and are comfortable. The stereo is an Alpine with CD player. Other than gauges the rest of the interior is stock. Everything works including the AC. The compressor has been rewired to a toggle switch with an indicator light, it allows the defrost to be used in cold weather without the AC turning on. The heater core was replaced a few years back and the heater is nice and hot. The windshield was replaced about 6000 miles ago so is very clear. It was very hard to find, they are not the same as the 4 door.
The paint was done in 97 and is PPG polyurethane enamel, Arctic White, much of the original paint was sanded down to the black oxide coating or bare metal at that time. The paint has chips, scratches, stains etc. It still shines and white does hide defects. The body has the usual rust spots that come with time. The lower corners of the doors, the lower front fenders, the lower center of the tailgate and the bottom edges of the side windows. The side windows have rust that started with the trim clip studs. It has blistered the paint but it is not rotted out behind the trim. Also the floors and trunk are good. The body work done on the rear quarter is minor. It caught a pole around a tight turn backing up in an alley and had about an 18" stripe put in it.
The front suspension has tubular front lower control arms with real Delrin bushings, Global west 500 lb. inch springs, Bilstein shocks, moog balljoints and bushings and a factory 1 1/8' sway bar. Power steering is an AGR fast ratio box with AGR pump. It has a firm effort. The rear has stock HD moog springs, moog bushings, Air Lift 1000 air bags, KYB shocks and a 1" sway bar. Brakes are factory 11" front with drilled rotors and Raybestos semi mettallic pads, Rear is stock drums with Raybestos linings and drums. The master cylinder is a 71 model for disc brakes. It has the correct proportioning valve and the rear cylinders for a factory setup. The wheels are 14" x 7" 6 slot rally wheels with the original hubcaps. Tires are 225-70 and made in the US by Cooper.
Engine is a GM Performance 350 HO. This is an L-31 vortec head engine, 9-1 compression with a reasonable cam. rated 330 horsepower & 380 ft. lbs of torque. It has an Edelbrock performer intake, 650 cfm Thunder series AVS carb., Pertronix HEI III (multi spark w rev limiter), Doug Thorley tri-y headers, 2 1/4" exhaust with Walker super dynomax hemis. It also has a large CS144 120 amp alternator with HD cabling & 100 amp mega fuse, custom aluminum radiator (2 - 1" wide rows) which will outperform most 4 row designs, water pump with a flow cooler disk and late model heater valve that acts as a bypass when the heater is off. Battery Interstate and is less than a year old.
Trans is a TH350 with ATI low gear set. This has a 2.75 1st gear & 1.52 2nd. Torque converter is a Hughes gm11 tow (about 2200 stall off the line but tighter than stock at highway speed). It was modified with the maximum number of clutches in all packs, a Hd intermediate race, wide low or rear sprag, wide direct bushing, HD band, 4 bushings in sun gear, cooler bypass plugged, all bushings and washers replace and the endplay and all clearances carefully set. Shift kit is Transgo full valve body kit set to stage 1 which is heavy duty, very firm and solid but not violent. It has a large cooler and external filter up front.
Rear end is the factory 12 bolt with 2.73 gears. It was overhauled with all bearings 70955 miles ago but the axles and axle bearings are Superior evolution and are much newer.
We hate to sell this car but we really don't drive it so much any more and I don't have time to do the body again. Just too many other things going on.
This is a real auction with a low reserve, lower than I want to sell for but I'm not playing any games and not going to waste anyones time.
Winning bidder to make a $500 deposit via paypal and contact via eBay within 24 hours of auction end. Balance of payment due within 7 days in the form of Cash if in person or verifiable Cashiers check if not. Pickup and any transportation is the responsibility of the buyer and needs to be within 7 days of payment. Car will not leave and the title will not be transferred before verified, legitimate payment is made. This is obvious to serious buyers but amazingly there are scammers who think they can tell a story or make a counterfeit payment and get around this.
Thank you for looking and biding!
