1979 Chevrolet Malibu with Oldsmobile 455
1979 Chevrolet Malibu Description
79 Malibu with an early Oldsmobile 455 that has been set up for 1/4 mile racing, it was built around 20 years ago and put away a year or two later... It was garaged all that time so the body has no rust. It was originally maroon and was repainted silver many years ago and is still in decent condition, as you can see the driver side fender has a pretty nice scrape on it, there is a brand new fender that goes with the car. All panels appear to be original and I couldn't find any rust on or under this car As stated before the car was set up for racing, I can not give specifics on the work done to the engine but can tell you it has a huge cam as the idle is very choppy.. It is barely streetable, it needs high octane fuel. Within the last couple years it received a new MSD dist. A electric vacuum pump to assist the power brakes and a new transmission cross member. Otherwise the engine is as it was originally built "supposedly" by Joe Mondello. It has C code heads with machine work, reverse manual shift Turbo 400 tranny with high stall speed torque converter, and a Chevrolet 12 bolt posi with 4.11 gears and relocating kit to fit and position into the G-Body.I have only driven it on the street a few times and the car is fast and shifts great with the ratchet shifter, it really comes together past 3000 rpm. The lights, turn signals, brake lights all work, the horn works even the key buzzer still works. It has manual steering and power brakes, no heater or a/cThere are street slicks on the rear with little wear and skinny tires on the front mounted on lightweight Weld aluminum racing rims. It has a fuel cell and the battery mounted in the trunk, also has a nice tachometer mounted on the column and a set of Gauges as well.
The interior is nice, dash is in beautiful condition, plastic interior panels are better than most, needs a headliner, the cardboard for it is still in the car and in good condition.
