2.4L 4 CYL DOHC High Output 4 Spd Automatic Black w/gray leather Seats Low Mileage, 60, 274 at the time of this listing.
I purchased this car new in 2008 Brand new. It has been a Great Car low mileage around 60k. I took the car in about a year and a half ago for a routine checkup. The company that I won't name here, told me that it was due for a Transmission service. To make a long story short They claimed it was leaking (minuscule) Leak and recommended replacing seals etc. They did the work and a few months later I took it to goodyear who I trust at this particular branch. They said my transmission Fluid was leaking. I took the Car back to the original place and found out there was a service Buletin they were supposed to look at before they did the work. All of this information is in the listing. That was almost two years The car has run just fine and I drive it at least 3 times a week, I Put approximately 100 miles a week on it if that. It still runs fine and I am driving it today. However, due to their error I have the price very low.
The car has served me well. A couple of years ago I took it to get it serviced at XYZ company. This is a fictitiousname. They changed the oil etc, and then told me I needed the transmission Serviced. This was in September 2015. They also said they axle seals were leaking. (Transmission) I had no problems with the car but took their word for it. They advised me to replace those prior to fluid replacement. They ordered the seals from the Local chevy dealer. They installed the parts and there were no issues. Two months later I took the car to have the oil changed and Goodyear told me the axle seals were leaking again. I took it back to the XYZ Company and told them they had a problem. The XYZ company determined an active TSB Concerning the the bushing wear in the 3rd Clutch housing causing axle seal leakage. The Bulletin #08-07-30-009.
The XYZ company told me that they were not informed by Chevy that there was an open TSB when they purchased the seals on 9-2015.
With that said, I took the Car to Goodyear they said they could fix it for several hundred Dollars not sure how much. I decided to not fix it. I have driven it and kept the oil changed. Kept the transmission Fluid checked. The last Check was about 3 months ago, I probably haven't put over 1000 miles on the car since that check and it was fine. I have all of the Receipts where I have kept oil changed fluids checked etc.
Since that dire diganosis with the car almost 2 years ago I have driven it at least 3 days a week with no problems.
The only other problems the Car has had is it likes Mid grade fuel. I found that out 5 years ago, the car started jerking and Goodyear said trash was in there and not to let it get low on fuel and to use a midgrade, I did and never had any problems with it jerking again.
It's had some bumps and scraps. The first one was when My Grown Daughter was Pregnant I thought she was in Labor and I backed out and scraped their Mailbox on the left Rear side. My son in law tried to fix that scrap with some Black paint it's not too good of a job, but it's okay. The next incident was when a 88 year old hit me (she won) cause she was rich and this is SC. Anyway, that was fixed and it was very minor blemish in the back bumper, Very low speeds. There was a slight incident in Charlotte, in stopped traffic 1 mile an hour I scraped the back of a huge really old SUV it left some barely perceptible marks on the front bumper area, etc.
See the photo.
There is some parking lot rash near the Door opener, typical for crowded charlotte.
There are some other Major Wear and Tear. The headlight on the right is out, it's filled with Water. The other headlight and blinker are fine. I drive another car at night. I don't drive this car at night. The blinker does not work good on that side due to that. i have already replaced that headlight once and not doing it again. There is a crack in the windshield. Probably could Windshield doctor that. It Barely starts at the drivers side and it' about halfway. Do not know how that happened. It's out of my line of vision. I"m 5'7" tall so I can see perfectly well, it's closer to the bottom. There are also scratches on the windshield. There are Marks and scuffs on the outside of the car not sure what they are, probably would buff out. The inside has a stain on the passenger seat from Sunblock lotion. Leather is actually skin, so I guess it just stained it. could not get that out. The visor had a cover over the mirror and that is broken off. The passenger side mirror still has it's visor mirror cover. The remotes that are on the keys are broken and do not work. There is a stain on one of the seat belts that I am pretty sure is star bucks coffee. I tried to show photos of the door handles on the inside some of them have chrome peeling off. There are dirt marks and scuffs in the car. The radio works and the CD Player seems fine. GREAT SOUND SYSTEM. I get the dirtiest Looks from People when I blast it up. So I know that is great. The AC is wonderful and heated seats can be turned on in the Winter and when it's 10 degrees outside that's just wonderful.
I don't know about the tires, I have the car checked I've kept it maintained, it was just messed up by the XYZ company not looking for a service Bulletin. Not sure about the brakes seem okay.
Can this car be saved? I hope so. It's perfect for someone that knows how to work on Cars and is willing. Can it be driven as is? I don't know. I drive it at least 3 times a week, but never get on the Interstate. Would I put my Grandchildren in it to ride? No absolutely not. It's small and I don't think suitable for kids or teens or anyone young. These sort of Cars can get away from you fast.
Recalls: There was what I considered a ridiculous recall back years ago. Something to do with the Ignition and these cars not turning off. I never had that problem but I took it in anyway, after I received the notice that they were having people bring these cars in to have that problem or Potential problem fixed. They replaced whatever part and no problem. I still have the paper work for that where it was replaced. There are a couple of other recalls out there now, that I have the letters on, but the letters read not to do anything unless there is a problem. I never had any of the signs that they mentioned for those so I did not take it in for those recalls as they said not to do it. Now as far as an update on those recalls I have received nothing. All that a new buyer would do is take the letter to a Chevy dealer if they received a letter or had any of the issues mentioned and Chevy pays to have it fixed. I havehad no issues or heard anything back and that was years ago. The one recall on the ignition is the only one they told me I had to take it in and have replaced, even though my car had no problems.
