Up for auction is a very rare, very nice Medium Purple Pearl Metallic six speed coupe; paint code 95. First, let's talk rare C5s:

Everyone talks about the 352 Speedway White 2001 Z06s, which are very cool but the General painted 4900 Corvettes Speedway White between 2001 and 2003.

The fact is that of the over 100,000 C5s produced, the MPPM 1998 Vettes are the lowest 1 year production color of the platform (tied with the Carmine Red 1997s) The Aztec Gold and Navy 98s are typically not included as they were not sold new through GM dealers.

So, this is a rare car. 1 of 229 Coupes built and probably 1 of only a dozen or so built completely loaded with a 6 speed.

I bought this car from the original owner who ordered the car new in late 1997. The car is in superb condition with no paintwork, no issues, and no stories. The car was delivered new in California and has always been a So Cal car save for a brief time spent in the Carolinas when the original owner was transferred there for work. He shared that he enjoyed the car most there carving up the parkways of the Great Smokey Mountains.

I have updated the car with 2002 polished five spoke wheels. These are genuine GM wheels, not reproduction. I will also include the original wagon wheels with the sale. They were chromed when new and some of the chrome is flaked off when I had the tires removed. They also make fine boat anchors for your fishing boat.

The car sports new Goodyear F1 runflats and a Magnaflow exhaust. Very nice sound but not obtrusive.

I lowered the car approximately two inches, using grade 8 bolts in the rear and factory adjustment in the front. This gives the car a killer stance.

If you are looking at this car, chances are you are already a Vette owner; perhaps you have a mid year and you are looking for a car to take to shows, longer drives, or cruise nights. Perhaps you are looking for your first Vette that reminds you of younger days. Whatever the case, this is one rare car that will garner attention and attract compliments wherever it goes. As good as the pictures are, if you have never seen a MPPM car first hand, the pictures just don't do the car justice, it is simply stunning.

I grew up in the 80s and cut my teeth on 60s and 70s muscle while always lusting for the new metal and fiberglass coming out of Motown. I know these cars well and I will miss this one. My true joy, though, is in the thrill of the chase. I have a select list of cars I look for and search the country to find them.
