1978 Chevrolet Caprice Description

1978 Chevrolet Caprice for sale: For sale is a beautiful 1978 Caprice. This two door coupe spent it's entire life in hot, dry Texas until purchased by me a couple of years ago. The Caprice has always been garage kept and it shows. The original V-8 305 engine hasa little over 112K miles and still runs great. The car starts, stops, runs, and drives as it should. This full size Caprice is comfortable to drive, and will take you anywhere. The car has had one professional repaint, and is beautiful. The gloss black paint shows like a mirror and the super straight panels reflect that. The car's air conditioning, cruise control, automatic windows, and all other functions work as they should (with the exception of the clock). The beautiful black interior is near perfect and shows very littlewear (if any). The trunk is solid and comes with original carpet, tire cover, and spare. In fact the car still has a lot of the original paperwork from purchase included including registration, extended warranty, and Caprice catalog along with numerous receipts. One look and you can see this car was extremely well taken care of. I have added headers and a stainless dual exhaust just to help with the attitude, and it sounds perfect! The car just completed a complete Pennsylvania inspection needing nothing and is inspected thru 3/2018. I know the '78 Caprice is not a '67 Chevelle, but if you are looking for a dependable, beautiful car to take to you local cruises without breaking the bank, here it is. With all that said, this is a 40 year old classic. There may be very small chips or imperfections in the paint work (note the paint missingunder license plate), but absolutely nothing that distracts from the overall appearance. The door molding could be replaced, as shown in the photos. The original AM/FM 8 Track still works, but is disconnected as I added a new CD player. It is attached underneath the dash, and easily removed with no damage to the car. Your choice. This is one of the cleanest, most original '78's out there. Update: The turn signal lever has broken. The signal still works fine, but plastic piece is broken.

The following information was e-mailed to me about the Caprice. I believe it helps explain the condition/options of the car. Thank you for the information!
Hi, beautiful Caprice you have there. May I offer a bit of advice to sell it faster? Stress that it's a Landau model. They're more desirable because they were produced in much lower numbers than the regular Coupes. Also, that car is just LOADED with options you're leaving out of the description such as the RPO Code D34 passenger side kick panel litter basket. It also has the 8.5" rear end (vs. the 7.5") in it so it most likely has the RPO Code F40 HD suspension. As long as the rear uses the small bolt pattern, 5x4.75, it's probably original to the car. A couple other things: It has the Deluxe interior. (color keyed seat belts, Velore fabric, thicker floor and door insulation) It has the 50/50 split bench seat. Stress the condition of the headliner, sun visors, and interior plastics, they're usually shot by now. The rear center bumper filler is in good shape, stress that. You can fix the clock with a hair dryer. The grease on the gears hardens over time. Warm it with a hair dryer and it should work!

Thanks to a question from an Ebay buyer I forgot to mention the dash pad. The original dash pad has been covered by a custom molded dash board cap because of cracks from the hot Texas sun. The cap fits over the original dash and is custom made for the Caprice. It fits and looks like the original dash pad (without the cracks!) I will include a few photos, but it's hard to see. Once again, if you have any questions, please let me know. On a separate note, the Caprice is listed locally and I have received an offer higher then my opening bid. I want to run the auction to conclusion, but if there are no more bids I may end the auction early and sell locally. BID NOW!!!
