1983 Chevrolet Camaro Sport Coupe 2-Door Description

While all red Camaros are desirable, not all of them are created equal. So if you want an early example of the car that redefined the legend, this 1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a prime example at an affordable price. This coupe is part of the very beginning of the new generation. Later third-gen Zs would sport a more boisterous body kit. That's a fine car, and we have a few to see if that's your taste, but we also know there are some of you out there who want a purer design like this one. And that's because this was a true game-changer with its body lines. It's a car all to its own. The crisp design has a sharp edge that runs around the entire coupe. It adds sophistication to the bold and bright red like a formal belt ready to welcome the prim-n-proper '80s. And the curved glass rear hatch was a work of art all on its own. The blacked-out headlight surrounds and hood scoops of the Z/28 were uniquely intimidating. And we all love the Z-car's rocker striping that leads to a distinctive silver lower package. But this one also knew how to pay tribute to the legends that came before it with items like the ducktail spoiler. And this one goes one step further with those awesome 15-inch Rally wheels. Inside the charcoal interior likes to get down to business quickly, but it does reserve colorful inserts to remind you of its sporting heritage. You see it in places like the Camaro logo on the three-spoke wheel and the Z-28 badging on the dash. The high-backed bucket seats give modern support. They have held up quite well for more than three decades, which helps highlight the level of care and respect this car has received over its lifetime. Besides, averaging less than 1,300 miles annually means far less seat time than most of its contemporaries. That's why even the carpeting remains fresh. In fact, this one has all the right pieces in place, like provisions for the factory air conditioning and AM/FM/cassette stereo. You even get the cool original gauge package with the large tach and dual mph/kmh speedometer that was unique to only a the first few years. With a low-mileage car that has been so well cared for so far, you'll love to lift the hood and see the engine bay has been just as nicely preserved. In fact, these early third-gen cars, with their 305 cubic-inch V8 and four-barrel carburetor, are always ripe for plenty of affordable power upgrades. But as you can see, this one is refreshingly original with the deep black components nicely standing out in the cherry red engine bay. And yes, this is the original numbers-matching powerplant. But as much as this is a great preservation car, we know you won't be able to resist adding miles to the odometer. After all, when you mix the V8 with power steering, front disc brakes, crisp handling, and a four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive, you get a classic that's easy to drive near or far.The sale comes complete with all the right paperwork, including original window sticker, factory buildsheet, warranty card, bill of sale, and owner's manual. But all you really have to do is look at the amazingly clean undercarriage to understand the true level of care. A cut-above early third-gen is hard to find, especially at this obtainable price.
