1999 Corvette C5 manual low miles
1999 Chevrolet Corvette Description
I absolutely love this car, and it pains me to consider selling it. This C5 Corvette is gorgeous inside and out. It has low miles and is fast, reliable, clean, comfortable, incredibly fun, and even gets great mpg.
The details
-1999 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
-Rare Nassau Blue (bright blue metallic)
-Manual transmission
-Only 77,086 miles
-Clean title
-Excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically, inside and out, with plenty of tread on the tires
-$15,000 OBO
Extras and upgrades:
-Removable targa top with both a glass top and bright blue body-color option. This is the perfect balance between convertible and coupe. It only takes 30 seconds to remove the top and stow it. It's so easy and quick that I'll take the top off to and from work, but pop it on when parked. It's also nice to have the top down cruising through the mountains or down the coast in the sunshine but be able to put it on quickly if it cools off or starts to rain.
-Extra set of heavy duty custom-fit rubber floor mats for daily use in addition to the fancy blue-trim Corvette logo mats.
-Wet Okole custom-fit neoprene seat covers. The leather seats are in very good condition, but I actually like the look and feel of the neoprene better. They kept the seats much cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than sitting on the leather.
-Trailer hitch. I never towed anything, but put a bike rack on the back from time to time.
-K&N air filter. They say it adds a few HP, but I'm not sure I can tell the difference between 345hp and 350hp. Fast is fast.
-Disabled 1st-4th lockout. The previous owner must have done this. The light on the dash still pops on, but you no longer are locked out of 2nd and 3rd gear at low speeds. GM does this to boost fuel economy, but in practice it is just an annoyance. It is much nicer and easier to drive now.
Issues:
-This car has been garaged the entire time I've owned it and is in excellent condition, especially for being 18 years old. That being said, I've really only found a few issues.
-Small spiderweb crack in right front bumper. It's so small I actually didn't notice it for almost an entire year until a mechanic pointed it out to me, but I figure I should disclose it. No surprises.
-Glass top has a strip of either sun damage or some sort of overspray on the right. It's been there since I've had the car. I haven't been able to get rid of it, and guys who detailed the car couldn't get it either.
-Left rear tire pressure monitoring sensor is out. The only reason this is a problem is that every time you start the car, a message pops up on the dash and you have to push the reset button. This is a minor inconvenience, and it can be fixed with the next set of tires (which won't be for a while.)
Why I love this car:
-It is so versatile. It is absolutely beautiful to look at. It is comfortable to drive around town or on long road trips. Definitely more comfortable than my wife's Civic. It's not my daily commuter but it's more than happy to drive to and from work a few times each week. It has way more storage than nearly all other two-seat sports cars, especially ones with removable tops. It's reliable. It gets great gas mileage. I think the factory stated 19/28mpg, but I've gotten 30mpg on the interstate cruising up to Seattle and back. Most importantly, it's freaking FUN! You sit low in this car. It has power seats and steering wheel with memory input so the moment you turn the key, the cockpit seems to mold around you. The sound, even with the stock exhaust, is wonderful. From the outside it is quiet and respectable until you open up the throttle, but on the inside the deep, throaty V8 sounds amazing at any speed. The BOSE stereo is fantastic, but I usually just turn it off and listen to the engine. Finally, this car is fast. From a safety standpoint, it's nice to have extra power for passing on the highway, but that's not why we like it so much. 345hp. 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Step on it, and you're thrown back in the seat with a huge smile on your face.
Why I'm selling this car:
-Not to blame it on the wife, but it wasn't my idea. I suppose paying off our $180,000 in student loan debt is important. I suppose when we move across the country in a few months we don't need to ship this car, too. I suppose that we don't NEED three cars for the two of us. I guess that if I can only have one car right now, it can't be the Vette since it doesn't do too well on snowy ski trips, dirt roads to remote trailheads, camping trips, or towing the boat. As you can tell, I love this car. I hope you will do the same.
I'm asking $15,000 OBO.
