This is an early production 1964 Corvette Coupe that I purchased about 20 years ago. In 2006, the body was pulled off the frame, gel coated and painted. The frame was sandblasted, checked for cracks and rust and powder coated prior to reassembly. The center cross member was cut to allow a removeable section prior to the installation of the new engine and transmission. All new suspension was added including heavier coils and fiberglass monoleaf rear spring and sway bar. All bearings were replaced in the wheels (front and rear) and the 3.70 limited slip differential as well as all new body shims, mounts, bushings and seals. Power discs were added in the front but power drums are still used in the rear.
All original bumperswere rechromed anddoor handles were replaced with new. All glass outside stainless trim was reused during the reassembly of the car.New carpets were installed but the original seats, headliner and door panels were reused. Because of the modificationdone to the tunnelto allow room for the T56 transmission, a hand crafted hardwood console was made. All gauges are new Auto Meter electronic including the clock. Aftermarket Classic Air was added, Flaming River tilt column and electronic Rostra cruise control.
The engine is a second generation LT1 with a mated T56 six speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch, donated from a 1996 Camaro and fitted with 1996 Corvette accessory drive. Howell engineering programmed the computer and supplied the wire harness that operates the electronic fuel injection. The mass air flow and two of the O2 sensors were programmed out of the system so the system operates similar to the earlier speed density systems. If I watch how I drive, the car will consistently get 25 to 30 miles per gallon. Rock Valley supplied the new fuel tank with the intank pump and sending unit. The car does not have power steering but it can be added by using a 1996 corvette power steering pump and remote reservoir if desired.
I currently have about 9000 miles on the car and It is always garaged unless I'm at a show or doing a trip with it. I have all documentation for everything that has been done to the car. I don't know a lot of the history prior to my purchase but the people I bought the car from drove it almost everyday and at some prior time in its life, the right front fender and entire front surround was replaced. Whoever did it did a good job.
EVERYTHING IN THE CAR WORKS.
SHIPPING----Buyer is responsible for shipping, however, if the buyer lives within750 miles of my home, for the price of my fuel one way, I will deliver the car to your address. I will not deliver the car to a point where I would need to meet with a car hauler who would then take the car on to the buyer. I will work with the buyer locally for the buyerstransport needs.
