1998 Chevrolet Astro
4.3L V6 workhorse
113850 miles on the clock
Great condition
No accidents (clear title)
The car was extensively serviced when we bought it at 93,000 miles - All Shocks replaced, Coolant replaced, Power Steering fluid replaced, Brake fluid replaced, Rear right brake replaced, Air filter replaced and oil changed. New set of Hankook Optima 724 tires - we have receipts for all of this work.
After that we had the following work done:
New battery at around 100,000 miles
New alternator at around 105,000 miles
New air conditioning at 110,000 miles - air blows really cold, it's been working perfectly in Joshua Tree in July/August
We had a class 5 hitch, brake controller module and transmission cooler installed so fully set up for towing.
We predominantly used the car for vacations, so the 20,000 we put on is mostly from highway road tripping.
Get's 18-20 mpg on highways, a little lower when you're driving around town.
Perfect van for getting away. The two rows of back seats are both removable, so you can turn this 8 person people carrier into a two seater sleeper van in a matter of 5 minutes. Sliding side door and slightly lower clearance makes for an easy access all rounder fun wagon for just about anybody.
We decided to go with this van over some of the newer cars because it is built on a wider truck chassis, which means it has significantly more space inside than many modern mini vans and people carriers - which are based around smaller car chassis.
We've had good times in this golden wagon of joy.
