Beautiful 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Bubble Top. A very rare car in great condition for the year. Finished in Hot Rod Flatz Satin White Paint with factory red interior, this Bel Air Bubble Top Chevy is an excellent example to add to anyone’s collection.
Those who know these cars understand the rarity of the Bel Air Bubble Tops over the Bubble Top Impalas. Fewer were built in 61 and very few survive today in this condition ready to cruise and enjoy, or restore as you drive. The car is a southern car and appears solid considering it is 56+ years old. Hard to find in this condition. Prices on these Bell Air’s are on the rise so it would be well worth restoring the car if you chose too.
82k miles, believed to be original to the car. Accident free with solid body and chassis. Clean trunk area with factory surface finish. As far as I can tell the frame and underneath is solid and in good shape. The floors have been worked on, and patched at some point. However, it does look to be correct stamped sheet metal that was used. They are solid but, could be improved on to be more presentable from underneath.
Pop the hood and you will find a detailed engine bay with a reliable 350 cubic inch Chevrolet motor that's been fully rebuilt and fitted with various chromed & polished components. New racing radiator & alternator. I have the original radiator also if wanted. All new custom dual Stainless exhaust system that is custom bent to run neatly along the frame. Car runs strong and sounds awesome!
Upgraded front power-assisted disc brakes with slotted rotors bring everything to a halt. The Bel Air rolls on polished American Racing Torq Thrust wheels with 275/60 R15 BF Goodrich G-Force T/A Drag Radials out back, & Cooper Sportsmaster GLT 165 R15’s up front.
The red interior is mostly stock from what I know, & in good condition, with a beautiful fresh painted dash. However if anything is to be improved it could be the upholstery. Currently the car is fitted with reproduction seat covers that are not the best quality, but usable. Headliner is original and in decent shape just has some stitching coming away at one of the seams above the driver. Only parts missing that I know of are the sun visors. A new good quality carpet kit has been installed, and the door panels are in good shape. Some connections still needed behind the dash from when it was removed for paint. Currently the fuel gauge speedo & wipers and not connected, but everything is there.
The car has spent most of it life in Florida hence the condition of the sheet metal. The Florida & California Licence plates are just for show. The car is located in Hudsonville Michigan USA 49426, and has a clean Michigan title.
Overall, this is a nice example of a 61 Bel Air Bubble Top. As mentioned the Bubble top' Bel Air’s & Impalas have always been highly-sought after cars, and this Bel Air makes it easy to understand why. The car can be driven daily or just cruise to car shows on the weekends. It could easily win awards at local car shows just like it sits, or add your own personal touches or restore as desired.
