1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 210 Description
This is a 1955 Chevrolet Chevy 210 4-Door, Sedan. 6-cylinder with standard three speed transmission. The car is well used. The car runs and drives. Most of the body panels have rust holes in them and are in poor condition rust-wise. The inner and outer rocker panels need replacing. The frame has no rust holes. The front seat and rear seat upholstery is in poor condition. The vacuum wipers work, but not great. The radiator has a leak; I run the car with the cap loose. The tires are worn and 12 years old; they should be replaced. The rear wheel well extensions are missing due to rust. The radio doesn't work. The cigarette lighter doesn't work. The area behind the passenger side front wheel has accident damage in the fender lip. The mileage on the odometer is 59,143 but this is only the mileage on the engine rebuild. The true total mileage on the car is higher and not known with certainty.
The car was originally all light green (Sea-Mist Green #586). The current color is Aztec Aqua. The car has a good clean transferable registration – no title for pre-1972 automobiles in New York State.
When the engine was rebuilt some time ago, hardened exhaust valve seats were installed so that the engine can run unleaded gasoline. An aluminum cam gear was installed. The original fiber cam gear tended to break.
The car has a stainless steel exhaust pipe and tail pipe, but the muffler is not stainless steel and is in poor condition. The car has an under hood light, a trunk light, and a rear window defroster from a mid-1960s GM car.
The spare tire is a smaller than normal space saver spare. A working non-original bumper jack comes with the car.
One of the listing photos shows parts that go with the car. The replacement seat covers and headliner in the photo are not in great condition. Currently there is no headliner installed in the car.
The license plates do not go with the car. I have to turn them in, in order to cancel the insurance after the car is sold. I have owned the car since 1990. The car originally came from the Carolinas, but has been driven for the past dozen years in New York State.
