- Original Michelin tires. Probably good to 20000 miles.
- Oil changed with factory spec Mobil One every 4000 miles
Issues:
- The supercharger will trip a P2227 barometric pressure error (engine check light) every month or so. Magnuson thinks it’s because the tune was set for California altitude. I never had a problem with it and it clears itself. The Ultragauge also can clear it. The car might benefit from a professional tune at its final location where a professional tuner can resolve this issue.
- The engine consumes a quart of oil every 1700 miles since new. Chevrolet says that 2000 miles is normal for this direct injection engine. It’s not been an issue but noted.
- Some minor rock chip damage in front of rear wheels on 3M mask. Chevy has tried to minimize damage by including 3M mask but it’s inevitable.
- Rear corvette badge removed.
- Underhood liner scuff where it rests on supercharger.
Warranty:
- Although the car has some remaining warranty, Chevy may or may not honor engine or powertrain issues due to the supercharger.
Notes:
I bought the car new in August 2015. I supercharged it at 3000 miles after the engine had some time to break in. I also replaced the front grill with the Z06 version at that time. The supercharger tune was handled by Magnuson. The supercharger drives like stock but with added power which I did to offset Colorado altitude loss. It’s quiet and can only be heard under load. This is a positive displacement supercharger similar to the factory unit in the Z06 models. The car has been driven respectively and not abused. No clutch dumps, track use, or burnouts. The rev match is great and reduces clutch wear. The Ultragauge display shows several key parameters including boost and intake temperature. I have the parts (included in sale) removed for the supercharger install including the original tune. The supercharger could be removed and the car flashed back to the factory tune using the included SCT X4 flasher.
