1964 Chrysler Imperial CROWN Description

FOR SALE- Is this 1964 Imperial Crown Convertible, black with a black/white two tone interior.
This is car is in the middle of a restoration and much of the hard and expensive work has been done.
The entire exterior was sanded down and straight edged. No dings, no dents.
All exterior chrome has been show chromed.
All stainless has been polished out and all dings and dents removed.
The interior has been completely redone in a custom two tone black and white leather.
The exterior has been painted but needs color sanding. Also, the front fascia, deck lid, and hood could use another coat of black gloss and then a clear coat over that.
There is no top. I had envisioned a white canvas top with black piping along the edges to complete the look. The power top mechanism works and the frame has been sanded and painted white to match both the top and the interior.
Mechanically she is sound sporting the legendary 413 CID Wedge Head V-8.
The transmission is smooth and 1964 was the final year for the push-button shift selector.
The A/C is aftermarket and is not currently connected though all the parts are there. (Compressor, Evaporator, Under the Dash Control Unit/Blower Fan)
The steering wheel that is shown was restored however, it does not fit this column. My suggestion is that the column be replaced with one that tilts. There is a steering wheel that is included that has not been restored but does fit the current non-tilt column.
New battery.
Original radiator and mechanical fan replaced with aluminum radiator and electric fan with temperature sensor and alternative manual engage switch.
1.) There is no rust. This car was shipped new in 1964 from the Jefferson Assembly plant in Detroit, Michigan to a dealership in San Francisco, CA. It remained in central California until I bought it in 2007. Since that time it has never been driven in rain or snow and has at all times been stored in a heated facility.
2.) There undercarriage is fine. It was power washed about 5 years ago and there is no rust or other issues with it.
3.) I am the third owner of the vehicle. The Second owner was from 1975-2007.
4.) The car was manufactured with a white top. Sometime between 1975 and 2007, that owner put on a black vinyl top which wore out. I removed it and threw it away, hence the reason there is no top on it at this time. My intent was had I finished the restoration, to have installed a white canvas top with black piping to match the interior.
At last look, the power top mechanism worked fine and I have replaced the hydraulic cylinders.
This car was designed by legendary automotive stylist Elwood P. Engle who designed the famous 1961 Lincoln Continental.
Engle was hired by Chrysler as its chief stylist and his first project was the 1964 Imperial.
This car bears a strikingresemblance to the '61 Continental, particularly the sides and the front end with the 1964 model being the only year Imperial sported the "floating Continental grille").
All the necessary parts are included for you to finish putting her back together.
These cars in mint condition sell for upwards of $45,000 and they are becoming rarer as less than 100 still exist.
