1938 Chrysler Royal Description

YOUR BID IS A BINDING CONTRACT. DO NOT CONTACT ME ABOUT STOPPING THE AUCTION TO SELL THIS CAR FOR PEANUTS. This is not a classified ad.
1938 Chrysler business Coupe. This is a real barn find bought from an estate. Car appears to have been restored in the early 1970's. It changed hands about 15 years ago and that person was going to make it a street rod. he started to take the car apart, sold off the original wheels and tires, started to gut the wiring, not much else was done. The car sat until his passing.
I bought the car, assembled what he had taken apart, put Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders, cleaned out the gas tank, changed the oil, hot wired it so I could start it with a 12 volt battery. It starts and runs. It is very quiet. It had good oil pressure until I accidentally broke the oil line. The oil line is now clamped shut. It does smoke a little bit, it could be from the Marvel Mystery Oil in the system. Some brake work was done to it in the past, it has new wheel cylinders on the front and other brake parts in the trunk. Interior is very nice. Headliner is nice. Dash is painted very nice. Steering wheel not cracked. Floors are in excellent condition. It does have a removable front floor for access to transmission, clutch, etc. which is original to the car. Trunk floor very nice. Light surface scale rust on the frame and underside, no holes. The body itself is very nice. The paint is probably 45 years old. Not much shine left!
Has small scuff on the left front fender bottom. 2 minor bubbles behind driver's door on quarter panel. 1 bubble on bottom of trunk lid due to mice having a nest inside. See Photos. Front bumper is presentable. Rear bumper is starting to peel (see photos). Stainless is all nice. The rest of the trim is nickel plated and shows age, but not damaged. The little side windows on the back are delaminated. It's flat glass and is inexpensive to replace. The rest of the glass is nice.
The license plate that is on the car has been restored and can be used as an antique plate in Pennsylvania. I have service manuals to go with the car. Clear title in my name. Overall the car is a nice, solid car for being almost 80 years old. Would be nice to restore to original or make a street rod.
the wheels and tires that are on it I put on. If the buyer doesn't want them, I will deduct $300.00 from the final price and provide wheels with tires good enough to get it onto a trailer. Will help with loading, send your shipper to load and take it. Reserve is modest, well under $10,000.00
