This car truly belongs in Mr. Jay Leno's Garage!!! Impeccable Award Winning one of a kind 1959 Chrysler Crown Imperial Southhampton Limited Edition, with only about two thousand produced in 1959. This is my father's car which he has owned for several years and bought post a full restoration by the previous owner. This Imperial is perfectly painted in three stage PPG Original 1959 Storm Gray and black with the addition of it being metallic based makes a truly amazing combination as it refracts from the sunlight, it almost seems to change color in front of your very eyes, (there is NOT one ounce of Bondo on this Classic). Fully undercoated chassis and interior floor. The car runs and drives like new with only 41,833 miles! The air conditioning has been updated to R134A, with all new connections and hoses through out the vehicle to include front to rear connectivity. All true and correct badging and lettering with bright chrome/gold plating. The 413 CID (350HP) Wedgehead engine is in pristine condition as well as the push button 3 speed TorqueFlite A727 Automatic Transmission. This is the first year of production for a rear air conditioning system, as well as the swivel out seats!!! 1959 also marked the addition of a chrome "silvercrest roof" which ads to the elegance and beauty of this vehicle with its FliteSweep Deck Lid! The magnificent interior is in true factory and original form with all hand stitched leather dash, steering wheel, and Crown emblems. The ONLY additions done by my father are, Brand New Coker Classic Whitewall Tires (cosmetic reasons as he wanted a wider whitewall stipe)and a new Legend battery from NAPA. This classic vehicle is a TRUE HEAD TURNER!!! Original owners manual preserved within an acid-free board and sealed in plastic. The Imperial is kept in a climate controlled garage as well as being protected by a custom made car cover (included with sale) I can keep going on and on about this astonishing Crown Imperial, but as they say pictures are worth a thousand words, so please enjoy the photographs. Notice: The Imperial is being advertised in other media outlets as well as locally, therefore, I am keeping my right to end the auction early. Please contact me with any offers or if you need a particular photo of the Imperial. All sales are final there is no warranty implied or herein attached with the sale of the Imperial.
Thank you for looking and happy bidding!!!
On Oct-20-16 at 11:54:12 PDT, seller added the following information:Chrysler Strides toward restoring high assembly standards were made over the next few years (1955-1958). Then for the 1959 model year, Imperial production moved from the Jefferson Avenue plant in Detroit, which it shared with other divisions' cars, to its own modernized plant on Warren Avenue in Dearborn. It was run by an Imperial-specific staff, employing specialized equipment and skills, and myriad quality controls and testing procedures. The "X" frame on the car was constructed of such strong alloys that the Imperial was prohibited from entering Demolition Derby's. This Crown Imperial Southhamton edition is one of only 1728 sold out of a total production of 17,100.
