1948 Chrysler Windsor, Traveler Description

You are bidding on a 1948 Chrysler Traveler. This is a project that we started in our shop several years ago but the owner is no longer able to finish it. Our goal on this car was to make it a good driver but still leave it in it's mostly original condition. This car spent most of it's life in Montana. This is a very solid, I would say almost rust free car with all of it's original paint still intact. A very straight body with only a very minor ding or two. Here is a list of the things that have been done on the car;Completely rebuilt engine (not original to the car, the original had a cracked block)Completely rebuilt transmissionCompletely rebuilt clutch, pressure plate resurfacedAll new complete OEM wiring harness (not installed)New brake master cylinder, installedAll new brake wheel cylinders, installedAll new flexible brake hoses, installedAll new brake shoes. The brake system is still dry, it is ready to have fluid installed and bleed.Rebuilt starter motorRebuilt generatorRebuilt correct carburetorRebuilt distributorNew water pumpNew fuel pumpNew spark plugsRebuilt radiatorFront seat has been recovered with correctperforatedleather that was custom made for this car to match originalFront door arm rests have been recoveredNew motor mounts and new transmission mountNew heater control valveNew radiator, heater hoses, new belts, new clampsRebuilt temperature sending unitCompletely rebuilt roof rack including all new ash wood and re-chromed metal bracketsThe engine is still out of the car, all parts are included with this car to put it back together again. The glass is all in good condition. All of the chrome is in good condition, the only pitted metal are the rear tail lights. The jack is complete and included. All of the stainless trim is in good condition with the exception of the rocker moldings, they have several dents in them. The tires look good but are probably very old. There is not a wheel for the spare tire. Some of the options included with this car are a sun visor, radio, clock, Chrysler logo on vanity mirror, and tissue dispenser. All of the hard to replace dash plastic is present and in good condition with the exception of the glove box door. This car is alsoequipped with the dual heater option. Again, this is a very solid car, solid body, solid floors, solid trunk. I can not say that it is 100% rust free, but what I can see it is very good. This is a great opportunity to own a very rare and hard to find car (only 4,182 were made between 1946-1948). This car has had over $10,000 spent on it all ready. I can help with loading this car and all the parts. I run a full time restoration shop and for an extra price could install the engine etc. for you. I would much rather sell it as is though. You are more than welcome to come and inspect this car in person. Please email me with any questions. The car is sold as is where is. A deposit is required within 24 hrs after the auction ends. Car will need to be removed within 30 days after auction ends or storage fees will be charged. Thanks for looking.
