This is my 1936 Diamond T model 212.
This is a DRIVER. It is a blast to drive, it turns many heads. The paint is not perfect, it has chips and a small run in the clear here and there. I purchased the truck in 2005, and began the project in 2007. My intent was to create a Hot Rod with a diesel engine that would drive and handle a 10,000lb camping trailer, and run down the road at 70 mph. I began with a 1994 P-30 Chevy motorhome chassis that had about 40kmileson it. This is basically a one ton C-30 front suspension with larger disc brakes, 19.5” budd wheels and tires. I used the front clip, the frame is a custom built 3”x5”x1/4” rectangle tubing. It has a Dana 80 rear-end., disc brakes and new 3.73 gears. I purchased a wrecked 2003 Dodge 2500 for the 5.9 Cummins engine, transmission, electrical system, instrument cluster, steering column and hydro boost braking system. The engine currently has 210K miles as per the speedometer. I don’t know if any rebuilding has been performed on the engine. I have resealed the oil pan and replaced the valve cover, the engine is VERY clean internally. The engine has never failed me over the past 10K miles, since I have had it on the road. Engine and body diagnosis can still be connected to OBD2 systems. The truck gets 20+ mpg on the road between 60-65 mph, 10-13mpg when towing. The truck has been on the road mainly during the summers since 2010. The truck annually went through some type project or improvement each winter since then. Hours and hours of metal work has been done on this truck. Most everything has been modified, all new metal was used, most of the body is 16 gauge, yet the bed sides and running boards are made from 14 gauge. The tail gate was purchased from Mar-K with hidden latches and stainless steel straps. Please watch my videos on YouTube.com, Mike’s Diamond T Hot Rod.
