1972 Datsun Z-Series Description

Selling my highly modified 1972 240z with a Skyline RB25DET motor swap. I personally rebuilt every mechanical system in this car to perform at the highest level. No shortcuts were taken anywhere in the car. The car is rust free. When I purchased the car, the only rust was in the floor pans and they have been replaced. The chassis was stiffenedwith 1x3" rectangular steel tubing tying in the front of the car all the way to rear subframe. Far better than the weak original stamped frame rails that stop half way through the car.

The RB25DET motor was professional rebuilt with ALL forged internals. The motor was built with 600 whp as the goal, but never got the turbo and injectors upgraded. Right now the car makes about 300 whp, and it's VERY fast. Honestly, after overbuilding the motor and drivetrain, the power level felt great so I never upgraded the turbo. Every system on the car is ready to make 600hp, all it needs is the turbo and injectors. I had a Borg Warner EFR turbo in mind.

The car is very low and very wide. I take pride in saying the wheels do NOT rub anywhere in the turns or anywhere. The fitment looks great, with no compromisein driveability. Despite the low ride height, the ride quality is good. My wife and I put about 1,600 miles on this summer and she says the ride is comfortable. You'd never guess that by the stance of the car.

The car runs and drives perfectly, starts every single time with no drama. I'd drive this car anywhere, honestly.

The car needs a paint job to be perfect. I love re-engineeringold mechanical systems into modern more reliable systems, but one thing I hate to do is paint and body. The car looks great, but the paint isn't perfect. There are some chips, and a crack in the rear valance. There is a bubble in the paint in one spot too. The car has a 80s paint job that shows well, but its not perfect. With a new paint job, and some interior finish work this car would be a SEMA level stunner.

On the interior, I covered every surface with sound deadener. Then on top of the sound deadener, is a double layer of foil bubble insulation. I was worried about the turbo motor putting too much heat into the interior. Honestly, with this insulation I get no heat in the cabin. I drove the car 350 miles in one day this summer and it was very comfortable. The interior needs carpet, I never put new carpet in. The seat brackets have been moved back so I could comfortably drive the car. I'm 6'2" and I don't even put the seat all the way back.

The electrical system is brand new, everywhere. It's much more reliable and safe than the original wiring system. Back in 1972, they didn't use relays. Now all the lights are very bright, like a new car. No dim headlights and wires that get hot or melt like other old cars.

If you want a very safe, very relible, very low, sexy looking 240z that you can double the power if you wish very easily, well, here you go. Enjoy.
