1998 Dodge Dakota 2wd V6 Work Truck 156k Miles - Trans Hesitates, Some Issues
1998 Dodge Dakota Description
RE-Listed due to non paying buyer. $100 deposit due immediately upon purchase, no exceptions.
Hi, up for sale is a 1998 Dodge Dakota 2wd pickup truck with the 3.9L V6 engine and an automatic transmission. It has 156k miles. This truck runs and drives with a clean title, but does have it's imperfections. It has keyless entry and automatic remote start. It does come with the 17" R/T wheels as pictured and the shock assisted bed cover. Also has an aftermarket C/D player head unit.
No check engine lights are on. It runs, drives, and shifts. The transmission does have some hesitation though when shifting, probably could be helped somewhat with the band adjustment which is a common thing on these. When it's hesitating to shift letting off the gas for a second helps it along. It would make a solid work or run around truck. It needs the two front tires and a new inspection, otherwise no major mechanical problems that I am aware of that would prevent it from passing inspection. It rides a little rough, so it probably could use shocks or bushings.
I recently replaced some bad brake lines and fully bled the brake system with all new fluid, battery is newer, rear tires are good. The front bumper and grille are rattle canned with factory match paint. Body has some rust such as on the front bumper, front fender edges, and at the bottoms of the doors. No major frame or floor rust that I can see. As mentioned, the trans is a little jerky / has hesitation on upshifting but it does shift when you let off the gas and has reverse, as mentioned the band adjustment can help these symptoms. Heat works well, A/C is a weak so it might need a re-charge or work. Headliner is starting to sag in the front. The passenger side door lock seems to be having trouble activating when using the keyless entry but works fine regularly. The driver's side door ground effect is off the truck as you can see in the pictures, but I do have it if you'd like to re-attach. It has a fiberglass roll pan in the back which does have some cracking and chipping. It could be repaired and re-painted if you choose, it's not beyond saving. The truck also has a dual tip flowmaster partial exhaust which outlets through the roll pan.
Taking into consideration the issues it does have, along with the upgrades and recent work I'm asking $1,550 obo. The truck is located in Trevose, PA 19053 - pick up only. I will not ship, and will only accept cash as payment (no money orders, no checks, no business checks, no paypal). A non refundable $100 deposit is due via paypal / credit card immediately upon purchase, no exceptions. Do not make an offer if you aren't ready to buy. If I do not have the deposit within 24 hours the truck will be re-listed, no exceptions. The remainder of the payment is due in cash in person along with vehicle pick up within 7 days.
If you are interested please send me a message and set up a time to come see the truck. Again, this truck isn't perfect and has some issues typical to a truck that's almost 20 years old which is why I'd classify it as a work truck. Ask any questions and feel free to set up a time to see it if you are serious about it.
