1976 Dodge W200 5/4 Ton 4x4 Ex Military/Fire Truck M880 M882 M884
1976 Dodge Power Wagon W200 4x4 M880 M882 M885 Description
UPDATE: 11-15-16 Now has period correct Smith & Wesson lightbar installed.
Up for your consideration today, is this 1976 Dodge W200 318 automatic pickup truck. This truck was purchased new by the US government in 1976 for military use. It is part of what is known as the " M Series" trucks, and according to the data plate on the dash, it is a M885.It has extra springs in the rear, which give it a 2500lb payload. The 5 digit odometer is showing 46 thousand miles and change. This could mean 46, 146, or 246 thousand. I have no way of knowing, so I will state that the true mileage is unknown. At some point in the life of the truck, the original oil pressure sending unit was removed and replaced with an aftermarket unit, thus the original gauge in the dash reads zero, but the aftermarket one does function. The original senders were prone to leaking over time, so I suspect that is why it was changed. It also looks as if the seat may have been replaced at some point as well. All of the lights and fuel gauge are in working order as well.
This truck has a very straight, solid body with little to no rust to be found. The cab floors, mounts, inner/outer rocker panels are in fantastic shape. As are the bottoms of the doors and the bed. Most of these military surplus trucks have manual steering and 16.5 inch tires. This truck has been upgraded in both areas. It has been converted to power steering using factory parts, and has 16 inch tires and wheels that have a lot of life in them. The tires have great tread, and no dry rot or weather checking to be found.
Please remember that while this truck is in great condition, it is 40 years old. It may have squeaks, rattles or drips that I haven't had time to notice. If you know dodge trucks, you also know that they are getting hard to find in general, let alone one that is in as good of a condition that this one is. The paint looks good from 20 ft away, but it does have a few runs, scratches, and chips associated with a vehicle that saw service as a brush fire truck at one point in its life.I am not claiming to sell a new truck here, just a truck in great condition that would make a great father/son project, winter truck, or a hunting vehicle. Please feel free to make any reasonable offer. That is what the feature is for. You may also email me with any questions that you may have.
