2004 Police Dodge Intrepid 3.5L V6 needs a little TLC - Water Pump????
2004 Dodge Intrepid Police Interceptor Description
2004 Dodge Intrepid Police Interceptor
I bought this from the Wabasha County Sheriff in August 2014. I was told it was driven by the main sheriff. This was an unmarked squad car so it did not have all the equipment inside inside so there are not a bunch of holes in the dash, no cage, factory radio still installed. It did have the light bar in the back window so there's holes there and the antenna on the trunk so a rubber gasket is there. The police bulbs in the fog lights are still in there. The Fog lights work, not the cop bulbs. The spot light still is attached but non working. I went to a junk yard and bought the center console and installed it although it's not perfect. Since I've had it I've put about 15,000 miles on it. I bought non police rims for it, 2 of which the tires are almost new, matching the other two tires. I'll list everything below of what I've done to it. I bought this to drive back and forth to work daily so I didn't rack up the miles on my Trailblazer. Well then I wanted a truck so I bought a RAM and drive my TB daily so now I have 2 vehicles with 4WD so my wife can drive one when it snows too.
Work I've done to it:
Radiator - New within the last 1000 miles, new coolant too
Knock Sensor - New within the last 5000 miles
Brakes - Front and Back, New Pads and Rotors within the last 15,000 miles
Driver Front Wheel Bearing Hub Assembly - new within the last 10,000 miles
2 Oxygen sensors - new within the last 15,000 miles
2 Front Tires - New within the last 10,000 miles (Fronts 11/32nds, Rears 7&8 32nds)
Tranny Pan dropped, fluid changed - Last 10,000 miles
Oil and Filter changed - Now
Tabs - Current
Timing Belt - Replaced before I bought it at 125,541 miles
A/C Works
Power Windows & Locks
No Cruise Control
I'm selling this because I do not need 3 vehicles and it needs help and I don't want to fix it. It leaks antifreeze now. Since the Radiator was replaced and it's not leaking up front, it's coming off the front side of the block my GUESS is, it needs a Water Pump. I don't feel like tearing into it so if you're a hands on person and want to tackle it go for it. I did a pressure test on the cooling system and saw a slow leak from underneath coming from that area so that's my guess. I really loved driving this and would love to keep it but it's time for me to move on. When it rains pretty good the drivers floor does get a little wet, I assume that's from the spot light. I did throw silicone around it but it still comes in somewhere but it never bothered me. The back doors stick in cold weather for some reason. This has Police locks on it so the back door locks are screwy too. The Trunk can only be opened when the car is on and from the inside. Just some weird Police thing. I forgot to mention too, the back seats are those nice cop car vinyl seats, LOL
I live right by a License center so if you buy it, we can do the title that day as long as they're open!
The car is drive-able but due to the coolant leak I would suggest you bring a car dolly
