1998 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT Description

Up for sale is a very rare and hard to find 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 SLT 12 Valve Cummins 4x4 long bed quad cab diesel truck with 211,264 Original Miles. They only made the quad cab (rear opening doors) for the first half of 1998 with the bullet proof 5.9L 12 Valve Cummins turbo diesel engine. Let me start by saying that this truck has had thousands and thousands of dollars invested into it, a lot of which was done recently (I will detail this below). This is a California Dodge diesel that has been on the West Coast its entire life. This truck was used primarily for camping trips down to Baja and hasn't been subject to hauling heavy loads. The truck is incredibly dry (no rust) and very straight.
This truck runs and drives great! The engine fires right up and has been meticulously maintained its entire life. The oil, oil filter, and fuel filters have been routinely changed to ensure clean oil and fuel is running through the engine. The KDP (Killer Dowel Pin) was tabbed, so you don't have to worry about that. The transmission is the original 47RE and has been consistently serviced and maintained. It was recently serviced at 196k miles by Oceanside Transmission. There is a very small leak in what appears to be the pan gasket and I've decided not to drop the pan. Given the age of the transmission, you may want to do a Heavy Duty overhaul or rebuild if you are going to be hauling loads. There are new Yokohama Geolander 315's (2016), the rear brake drums and shoes are BRAND NEW. This truck cruises on the freeway, mechanically this truck is really good and has been routinely serviced and maintained. Please refer to the end of this description for all of the new parts. This truck has had almost everything done that is needed for these 2nd gens. The cruise control wiring needs to be worked on, it is currently not working and the windshield has a crack in it.
This truck is NOT a show truck. It is almost 20 years old and has the original paint. There are no major dents and really only a couple of minor dings. It is pretty incredible how straight this thing is. The paint is original and has clear coat fading, chips, and scratches like they all do. With that being said, this truck can still shine up with the best of them. There used to be a camper shell on the bed and rubbed up against the back of the cab. This wore the paint down in some spots and led to some surface rust, it just needs to be sanded, primed and touched up. The front seats were completely redone ($1,200) and look great! The carpet is in good shape and the rear seat is very good. Overall this interior is pretty spotless.
