1965 Dodge Dart Charger Dealer Kit Car with 273 V8 273 Hi Performance x 4 BBL 4 speed stick.
In November 1964 Dodge launched the Dart Charger. 480 Dart Chargers were produced, 180 of which were built at the plant, while parts for an additional 300 “Dealer Kits” were produced and shipped to Dodge dealers in 11 western states.Dealers could put these Kits on any 273 Hi Performance cars they had in stock. This car is 1 of 36 remaining (from the original 480 produced) Dart Chargers known in existence today. It has been authenticated and listed in the International 1965 Dodge Dart Charger Registry.Documentation provided.
Original 273 cu. in. Hi Performance engine and transmission with a rebuilt on engine and approx. 45K miles. The 273 Hi Performance engine came with a Carter 4-barrel carburetor (rebuilt), 10.5:1 compression, a more aggressive camshaft with solid tappets, and other upgrades which increased output to 235 bhp (175 kW). Four speed transmission with stock Hurst shifter and original knob.
Numbers match. It has the Charger air filter, alum valve covers, 10" drum brakes (Frt10x 2.25”, rear 10 x 1.75”).The original color was cream yellow. It had been repainted, at one time to a black with a “gasoline-like iridescence” in the clear coat on top the paint and has the insignias of the Elks Lodge that raced it, 1/4 mile stock. The original hardtop was covered in black vinyl, the vinyl is gone and the metal is painted with a low-quality white paint.Interior has been completely restored with the addition of pockets on the back side of the front seats. The interior is missing one seat rear button, I have the original Masonite speaker plate for the rear that can be used for templating. All exterior trim is on car (with exception of drivers side rear wheel well trim which I have and is included), red white and blue paint on emblems is faded off as is black paint on hood.Left front fender looks to have bodywork done on it. Undercarriage, floor pans, and trunk floor are solid, only tiny amounts of surface rust.Interior floor has been treated with Rustmort to neutralize light surface rust where needed, sound proof matting lines floor under new carpet and roof under new headliner. It has rust through on drivers rear fender and a 1” patch of rust on passenger side rear fender. This is from isolated areas of pine needles that collected up in the wheel well.I have the replacement stampings for the drivers side and they are included with the car.Passenger side rear corner has a dent in it, included is a rt rear corner from a ’66.
