1970 Dodge Dart Swinger - NO RESERVE Description
I have several Mopars I need to sell, so this one is going NO RESERVE with a low starting price. It will sell, so please only bid if you intend to buy it.
This is a very cool and unique 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger project car. It is a 318 automatic with power steering. It's in really decent shape and can be driven while being restored. The engine starts right up and runs well. It has newer glasspack type mufflers. The drivetrain is all original and looks to be undisturbed except for the addition of a 4bbl intake and Edelbrock carb. The fender tag is present and there are the scant remains of a build sheet behind the rear seat. The car starts right up and drives/shifts/stops fine. The previous owner had installed about 95% of a new Ron Francis wiring kit, including fuse box and relays as seen in the pics. This was due to a short in the original wiring harness, which is included. Finishing the wiring will probably take you some time but should cost no money in parts. The previous owner left all the new wiring uncut, which I zip tied out of the way.
The paint is new this year. The car was epoxy primed, has a violet metallic base coat with a light mix of blue-purple color shifting pigment as a mid coat, then 2 coats of clear. I was looking for a subtle effect with the color shift. The paint came out very nice except for a few, unfortunately noticable small flaws here and there. This can be seen in some of the pics, especially on the rear of trunk lid. Otherwise it is a one-of-kind eye catching finish that draws lots of attention.
The interior will pretty much all need replaced. The prev owner did CNC some nice front door panels and a rear shelf out of 1/8" aluminum. These should be marketable if you don't like them. All glass on the car is good and it has a new rear bumper. The rear window chrome trim is missing, but pretty much everything else is there. Underneath, the frame rails are pristine. The emergency brake cable is broken where it splits to the rear wheels. The car has only minor rust in the floor pans and spare tire well. The worst of this is the spare tire well, which is pictured close up. All of this can be patched without much of a problem.
Other notes:I'd be glad to promptly answer any specific questions or take specific photos if requested.
The power steering pump was removed by the previous owner because he couldn't find a replacement hose and fitting. I purchased the hose with correct fitting and have included it. The car actually steers pretty well without it.
The wiper mechanism was removed by previous owner but everything seems to be there and is included.
The car has rear air shocks. I did not reconnect these after the paint job because the hoses need better routing - but they do hold air.
The headlights are halogen and are connected and working. The alternator was not working and I disconnected it for safety. I believe it just needs grounded on the field side but I didn't spend any time on finishing the wiring project.
The driver's side exterior door handle is not working. It was working but stopped. Upon investigation I found that it had been zip tied together because a clip was missing and it had all come loose. I obtained the correct clip and put it together properly but it still does not open the door. I've been using the wing window reach inside method.
There is an intriguing issue with the wiring project. The engine continues to run for a few seconds after the ignition switch is turned off. It's really no big deal and a low priority so I didn't spend any time tracing that out.
