This car was originally from Southern California. I purchased this car and drove it back to North Carolina from California. I've had plenty of trouble free miles. This car is a reliable driver. Time tested and proven!
Under the hood is a 383 cubic inch big block V8 fed by a 2bbl carburetor. The engine was rebuilt and installed by the previous owner and runs very well. No smoke or issues. The points Ignition has been converted to a later model MoPar electronic ignition setup. The original distributor/parts are included. Exhaust is nice and quiet but gives you that nice throaty tone when you mat the gas pedal! The motor is strong and can sling you into cruising speed in no time! The transmission is the original Torqueflite 3 speed pushbutton automatic which operates flawlessly. You can cruise on the interstate all day at 70mph with no worries! This car performed great on my cross country drive and everywhere else I've driven. The choke sometimes likes to act up when the car is very cold but once shes warmed up for 30 seconds or so she's good to go.
The master cylinder and all the rubber brake hoses have been replaced. The rest of the brakes were rebuilt/replaced by the previous owner and work as they should. A complete brake kit is included with the car as well. A brand new set of 8.00-14 bias ply white wall Goodyear Super Cushions were installed and have about 8000 miles on them. These are the correct tires the car left the factory with. The car rides nice down the road and attracts attention from everyone.
The car is equipped with power steering which allows you to shuttle this spaceship around with ease. Both power steering hoses were replaced. The pump does appear to have a leak.
The radiator has been recored with a high efficiency core. The water pump and radiator hoses are new. This car will not overheat! Sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on a boiling summer day won't make this car even think of getting hot. This car is a perfect candidate for air conditioning as it is equipped with factory tinted glass as well.Heater core replaced and new hoses installed. The heater works very well. Keeps you warm on those cold nights!
Everything works including the original AM radio. All lights, gauges, etc. The gas gauge is dead accurate so no worries of false readings. Empty is empty! The car has variable speed wipers and windshield washer. I replaced the pump for the washer and it does pump up but one rubber hose needs replacement or a clamp as the fluid leaks out of it.
The car was painted some time back in a nice white pearl. It's a very light pearl so not out of place. It looks good on the car. Whoever painted the car did a great job. Very straight! No waves or ugly bodywork. There are some flaws in the paint with some chips and nicks here and there but the car is very presentable. I get all kinds of comments on the paint job.
Rust free. That's right...you wont find any rot on this vehicle! The floors and trunk and all other areas are rock solid and don't show any rust at all. When I pulled the carpet up to inspect the floors they were still in perfect shape up top just as they were underneath. I found a build sheet under the carpet as well as the back seat. They are included with the car. No hints of rust on this car! The trunk seal is new. The front park/turn signal lenses are NOS replacements.
The front seat is covered with a Mexican blanket. It was like that when I purchased the car. The headliner was coming down so I pulled it out. Better me than you as it's not fun pulling out headliners and loose insulation! The door panels are nearly perfect and the dash pad is intact and presentable. The plastic two tone steering wheel is also in very good shape. I found and bought an original dash speaker grille as the original had crumbled. They are made of plastic and very hard to find! I also installed front lap belts for safety. They are the vintage airplane buckle type which is era appropriate.
This is a very presentable driver that you can enjoy right now! Only needing some minor work and some cosmetics. It's bizarre! It'll make people ask you what it is or think that they saw a UFO fly past them! Look at those taillights and that see through speedometer! Space age at its finest!
I have a clear NC title in my name. Come drive it home!
Check out some of the photos of my trip from CA to NC along Route 66 to see proof of this car's reliability!
